To be fair the characters didn't really receive any depth or polish until soul calibur 2. IMO the soul edge characters look like tekken concept rejects but with weapons. Soul calibur gave them more depth and actually let you fucking move around.

I think the character aesthetics in soul edge are way too clean like 1950s comic book clean. Early anime clean with the shit tier animations as a bonus. They just look like poorly drawn action figures with no personalities as opposed to calibur which are really well drawn action figures with personalities.

probably one of the best statements regarding bethesda. They treat fallout like it's their own fanfiction game and go way too over the top with the little things they liked in fallout 1/2 and miss the bigger picture. They must fucking hate obsidian so much for making their writing team look retarded(New vegas isn't brilliant but at least the world and characters had more depth than the puddles in fallout 3/4)

Now it's really just style over substance. Most game designers don't understand atmosphere or the je ne se quois aspect of simple control and fluidity of movement. Every game developer should be forced to play Devil may cry/Milsims/arcade shooters/fighting games/etc. etc. There are so many games that come out that have interesting premises but the combat systems or control is just shit. Modern game design is "Press x to win" unless you are playing a competitive game. A good example of just overall terrible control is what I've been going on about which is bethesda. Movement in a bethesda game is actually cancer and quite often defies everything you know about the human body physics and movement and it doesn't feel good even when you get your power fantasy on it feels like shit.

yea my nostalgia goggles blind me alot the first one I played was 2 and when I played other soul games I fucking hated them even the aesthetics. 3 had good aesthetics but the combat was all weird and fucked up. Right now I think 2 is the best and sadly 6 is probably the second best soul calibur game even though it's deader than a doornail.

Do you know anon, that there are mods to put the Wawa 1 faction intros nito Wawa 2 factions. And both have their sthrengs & flaws. I think intros in Wawa 2 should have been in-engine, while other cutscenes been 2D.

Despite it showcasing the worst part of the game(stealth) I love it.

Would be awesome, but you forget that making an animation for each faction would be too much. Previous games only had a template with the same agent & situation changing only the outcome, so obviously CA did that with no problem. Now try it in a game of multiple species and really distinct cultures.

Me and my friend co-op the game the other day, it was barley functional mess. The Co-op lobby would crash every other level, and when you busted down doors half the time it wouldn't bust down for the other player and you'd be forced to reload the checkpoint.

When the game actually worked, the gameplay was nothing more then an generic cover shooter, I feel like I want to like the Idea of Kain and Lynch as characters, but both of the games they are stuck in are as mediocre as you can get. both games want to be really Dark and leave and impact that way, but there is nothing beyond that wanna be Shock Factor.

Maybe if Kain and Lynch were in a Max Payne game or something then it could work.
