Aren't most hideo Kojima games usually six plus years off from announcement? Honestly every new thing I see from this game gets me less hyped for it. I'm tired of Japanese developers building games for the "global Marketplace" any chance of me buying a PlayStation 4 or 5 at this point is completely dead (unless Sony makes some major changes). I have plenty of games to play right now and I'm in no real hurry for this game or any of the first party titles from the big three consoles. By the time this game is anywhere near complete PlayStation 5 will already be on store shelves. Raiden is the exact opposite or Snake for a reason. You aren't some decorated super soldier. You're this little pussy trying to live up to his legend fresh out of the brainwashing/VR academy in way over his head. You could draw comparisons to Raiden being you the player but the simple answer is that you don't always get to play as the badass. He actually has a pretty decent arc through the game and by the end he actually seems like he has made a significant difference.

Rose is a very well written character. You are supposed to either sympathise with her or hate her. She does both well especially the hate. Both Ocelot and Solidus are great characters. Solidus particularly is very easy to relate to. Snake is Snake. Hal and Emma serve very important sub story roles and give you more insight into Hal and Snake as characters. Stillman might be one of the only actually weak characters but he is just tied into the Fatman plot so who cares? Fatman, Vamp and Fortune are fine as minibosses and designed to push Raiden's story along nicely.

I just kind of realized that it's pointless to talk about Silent Hill, or metal gear. Or anything owned by Konami. As they have pretty much no intention of developing video games anymore. The best we will likely ever see are compilations Imports of older titles. But we will likely never see any new games based on any of the IP Konami owns. It's really sad how many great titles and potentially great future titles will in definitely be held hostage behind Konami doors for the foreseeable future, unless some third-party has a lot of money to make it worth their while. Somebody with a lot of money would have to give Konami a pretty sweet no-risk deal for them to even bother spending the money to send an employee to sign the contract. Like if Microsoft ever got a wild hair up its ass they could easily find out another great Metal Gear or Castlevania Game and make it exclusive to the Xbox and windows but they likely won't do that. Not only would they have to pay kaname for the license they would have to pay a third-party developer or develop it themselves. ( and they would probably use Ninja Theory now that they own them) Although it's a pretty crazy world we live in where if you have enough money you could probably pay Capcom to make a new canonical Castlevania game.
