I'll be the lone voice of dissent and say that I don't hate Lowtax.
He had enough principles (or maybe he is just spinning it that way) to prevent SomethingAwful from being overrun by Facebook-tier posts. There's some real internet classics in their archive (including "I put on a robe and wizard hat" and messing with Stormfront) from back when everyone was in on the joke together.
It's really sad to see a place that had such potential fifteen years ago first become a bastion for smug assholes (charging $10 encouraged this) and then become Patient Zero for Social Justice and expecting heavy-handed moderation (banning everyone that annoyed the community for the silliest reasons has that effect) on the entire internet.
It all makes sense in retrospect how they'd form an actual "secret club". They spent real money on admission, had to conform hard to the culture, had semi-anonymous identities with which they could find each other outside of the site, and a lot of their trolling was geared at "ew look at the people with the gross opinions; let's mess with them". It was never egalitarian.
But it's still a shame. In no way do I approve what the site became and I'd love to see a torch taken to it, but the damage is done and there was some great content archived there from the site's peak.
I'm sure some of us also remember the struggle for control of EVE, and some of the other conflicts we had with the Goons.
In many ways, they were our mirrors. Our distant cousins.
Today we celebrate the death of our enemy, but that enemy was closer to us in many ways than the rest of those on the internet.
This is just one more step in the loss of the old internet and the taming of the frontier.
I understand the joy, but I can't help but weep for what could have been.
That being said, expect someone with a successful Patreon to swoop in and save the site, somehow making it more cancerous in the process.

What the site became after that was twisted. The elements were all there before the site formed a monoculture hugbox and that's when the rivalry started.

To give you more information for how I got those numbers: The setpts multiplication changes the stream speed. 0.5* would double the speed and 2.0* would double it. I wanted one beat per frame. The gif input framerate was 4.0 fps, and the music is 162 bpm, which divides down to 2.7 bps (which is where the -r argument comes from). To calculate setpts, you have to scale from 4.0 down to 2.7, so you have to divide 4 / 2.7 to get 1.481…).
You can do the same calculations when trying to sync anything. You might have to use a -ss to shift the video stream as well to match it to the beat.
If you have a track with a variable tempo, you're basically fucked.

While ffmpeg understands that you want things to loop it doesn't really know what to loop for how long.
You need to add -shortest to let it know that you are trying to loop the short stream to the length of the long one.(in this case the gif to the song)
Pic related is a more generic thing to reference whenever you need to mess with ffmpeg.It has replaced all of my video editing needs after I managed to properly understand what corresponds to what.

That and certain speedruns made me actually want to play that for myself. It's awful but in a fun way if you're breaking it. The other good LPs off the top of my head are of Trespasser for being informative, and anything Freelance Astronauts for being fun. I tolerate the one of Rise of the Triad too despite certain aspects. It shows pretty good care overall at showcasing that game.
