What are some of your weird, autistic or OCD hangups about things especially relating to video games, video game accessories, or the handling thereof? I'll start with mine:

>be especially OCD about touching controllers, mice, and keyboards with oily hands or hands that recently touched food so have to wash hands before handling these

>if I turn in a certain direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) I have to then turn the opposite way to balance out

>character stats have to be even points

>have to have mouse sensitivity set to the very exact point I'm comfortable with

I like repeating digits, or numbers that end with 5's or 0's

Resource numbers cannot have their biggest digit reduced, for example, if I have 8124 pieces of wood, I cannot use more than 124

I like organizing things.

I sometime set myself very specific and completely arbitrary objectives and refuse to quit playing until I achieve it or physically can't anymore, and by that I mean physical pain high enough that it prevents me from being able to play.

I have some extremely specific control scheme and would rather not play a game if I can't use it

In RTSes I like my stuff being in powers of two

I literally cannot fathom not getting all secrets in older / faux oldschool FPSes, if a scret is not atainable without cheats I will cheat (if I can't use cheat I will restart the campaign / level), if I can't get it at all I'll physically cringe for a couple minutes and move on

Ghosting stealth game and stealthing crappy stealth sections, best example is the assassins warehouses in Black Mesa, I spent way too much time trying to stealth those and then had to take a break from the game when I realized they made it impossible in the paid release **I didn't pay for it before you start chimping out*

>>16233910

>Why must my fucking hands produce oil

Because you eat shit and don't do enough physical activity or playin g games is stressful to you even if you don't realize it or a combination of both.

>I'll have to buy fucking gloves or something.

Don't you'll just get some nasty fungus on your hands instead (not to mention the smell. unless you literally spend more time on making sure you don't than you would have just cleaning your hands every hour or so.

Get a towel near you and hospital wipes to clean your shit everyday instead.

On that note, what mouse (and material) is easiest to clean?

I have a Steelseries mouse made of soft plastic with bumpy rubber grips, and it's pretty horrible in that respect. The soft plastic seems to absorb grease, and the grip is basically caked in oil and dead skin and cum. Worse I can't really clean it as both the soft plastic and the rubber seem to break down when exposed to alcohol or scrubbed with a tooth brush, and I can't easily disassemble it to wash with soap and water.

I'm a clean boy at heart I swear, I'd scrub my mouse frequently if it would let me.

DM1 FPS, not perfect but most of the shell is hard smooth plastic which is easy to clean.

Literally every other recent mouse with a not shit sensor is that crappy rubberized soft touch shit that you'll ruin trying to clean or will melt in your hands like the Logitech one.

If I'm not powergaming and completing fucking everything no matter how useless and inconvenient, I lose my will to play. In games it is catered to by, I eventually get a thorough enough understanding of the game to do challenge completionism where I mix in as much extra flair into how I do stuff. Things like sequence breaking, quirks of the effect of finishing things in a certain way that enable me to trace my actions back in a concrete and certain way. I internally justify this to myself like a thing I do in case someone inexplicably gives enough of a shit about my autism to deny it was done in that certain way. So far, I've been doing this in any applicable game I've played and no one has ever done that. Why am I like this?

Pc/gaming autism? Hmm…

>everything has to be neatly organized in folders and the desktop empty - if something is out of folder even for a moment, overwhelming need to create a folder and put it in appears

>desktop wallpaper has to be static background from a music video - don't ask me why

>in RPG games, I feel the need to have all stats be the exact same number, I manage to resist most of the time, but I have those weak moments when I just can't - fucked multiple builds because of it

>tend to overgrind like an autistic monkey - I won't challenge the first gym leader in a Pokemon game before my mons are at least lv. 35-40 for example

>acute collector syndrome - have to have every item/character/vehicle in a game - let myself be fucked by microtransactions a couple times because of that although I do manage to restrict myself much better nowadays than say 2 years ago

>if a game has skill groups, I have to be in the top level, am competitive to the autistic level where I feel actual disdain for badz and resentment for people who best me

>in strategy games, the unit layout is always standardized, if possible the placement symmetrical and there is always a ratio of untis used - in my last SW-EA:FoC run with the AotR mod playing as empire, I was runing solely these units for space: Imperial 2 SDs, Vindicator (2*as many as the SDs), Carrack (4*as many as SDs), Lancer (2 per SD early, 3 per SD late campaign), Immobilizer (half SD amount).

>in building games, everything has to be organized and if posible symmetrical - playing campaign in builder games where initial placement of buildings does not adhere to my standards and the buildings cannot be moved makes it almost physically painful for me

I think those are the ones that are most apparent. There's a few smaller things like having stuff color matched, etc, but I think that's pretty normal.

d3ca4f  No.16235121

I have to arrange my games in any sort of launcher by alphabetically and by genre/format/publisher/chronology/whatever, but I break my own rules if a game is high profile enough to be defining of the system - it goes to the top of the list/front of the stack - along with the whole franchise where it is then categorized by chronology/alphabetical. Whatever categorical rule I end up choosing, that's the arrangement they absolutely must be in. Systems like the Nintendo Switch drive me up the fucking wall by just dumping everything in the home-screen in the order of last accessed. The PS4 to a lesser extent has this problem because you can set absolute order within a folder - and create as many folders as you want - the position of those folders can't be pinned and arrange by last accessed. Maddening.

If there's one nice thing I can say about the Xbox One, is that they let you create as many categories and sub-categories as you want, pin them in absolute positions, and then pin the games inside in whatever order you choose. The only problem is that it has no games.

I'm kind of autistic in regards to music as well, used to write lyrics as well, etc. I listen to a wide range of genres, but I have a very limited list of favorites, which is constantly in flux as well. I will at times listen to a song/album several hundred times a week, but then dump it like trash and pick up something else. Other times, I will have weeks where I don't repeat even a single song, even if there is stuff I really like, because I feel driven to explore. I also find music a very important aspect of life, expression of self, etc. I guess the wallpaper reminds me of the music I listen to at the time. As my taste changes, so do the wallpapers.

If I don't, I feel as if instead of scrolling around a globe to get back to the same point, I instead have come into a different, parallel universe that is also the exact same as the first one, however I KNOW it's not the same one. This doesn't happen on 3D maps like in Spore, because there I know the world is circular, but if it's a flat map with wraparound, every time it feels wrong. Once I went for a piss with something holding down an arrow key and when I came back I tried to get back to the "original" world but I couldn't and I started crying because I thought of how I lost all those people in the first world.

In MoWAS style games particularly, if I have a few of them I might put them in a squad and use them as 'veterans' and have them do special tasks, even if there's no system or experience or the like where they actually gain stats, and if one of them dies I feel genuinely bad.

634940  No.16235854

Another thing I always do, which I'm not really sure is autistic or OCD, is whenever I play a game and I come across a split in the road and I'm not sure which way will continue the story and which way leads to a secret or something, I'll pick one way, halfway go through it, then go back and go halfway through the other path. By then it's usually clear which way continues the level and which areas are for further exploring.

It sometimes makes for some needless back-and-forth, but I always have to go and make sure I've been everywhere before I move on to the next level. I don't think there's a better way to do it.

I don't like games with cryptic secrets like Doom or Serious Sam because I feel that I have to find everything or else I shouldn't progress to the next stage. If I do try to find everything, I feel fulfilled in the end but I don't have fun in the process of doing it. It's not fun to be obsessive.

I also don't like games having quicksaves because I'll just savescum if the game officially gives me the option to do so. And I don't mean savescum just to make it through, I'll savescum till I make the most perfect run I can make. It's not fun.

I much, much prefer save points. I overly prefer save points over auto saves as well. Very few games have save points nowadays.

I have a genuine dualshock 3 controller that I've come to realize is pretty valuable to me as no other controller ticks all my boxes. I really dislike the xbone controller, it's heavy, big and cumbersome where as the DS3 is smaller, lighter and I feel I'm more agile with it. Haven't played extensively with a DS4 but I didn't like it, I especially didn't like the small analog sticks with smaller motion compared to the DS3. I'm actually saddened it's near impossible to get a brand new genuine controller I used to have a white one but I lost it. I'm terrified of the thought of it dieing, the rumble is starting to act up it feels pretty intense like something maybe lose inside? I want to try a DS4 though I feel to me the DS3 is king of controllers. I have a few other quirks but I feel it's not worth sharing.
