MGSV has a lot of problems….But there is one that is never discussed but is very irratating.

That was a problem that was in no other Metal Gear games, and not even in MGSV: Ground Zeroes…No, just in The Phantom Pain.

What is it ? The MUSIC…No, not the music itself, I think it's great, but the Volume of the music is SO FUCKING LOW and QUIET, that be during cinematic or during gameplay. It's just too fucking low. Even the most "Epic" sounds like OKB0 feels so underwhelming when watching the cutscene, because the SFX sounds and voices are too loud compared to the music.

That's a fucking shame, there wasn't this problem in any MGS or even in MGS:Ground Zeroes, it was well balanced volume wise.

How could they fail they volume mixing so badly ?

And there are no way to change the music volume settings, Hidiot Kojima never had allowed volume sliders in his games, only Metal Gear Rising did it but it was Platinum Games and it didn't need it, the base mixing is alreay great.

But with The Phantom Pain, it's so fucking bad, the music is so quiet and low, and the fact that the nature of the music is more "atmospheric" compared to Ground Zeroes doesn't help either.

And there are no PC mods to increase the volume of the musics too.

The OST is supposed to be nervous, and yet, it's so fucking quiet and low compared to all the other sounds…Why ?`Even Ground Zeroes had punchy Music, that be combat music, cinematic music, infiltration music, all with a great level of volume and well balanced with all the other sounds. But MGSV:TTP, the music is very low during the whole game.

It's a shame that there's no proper settings to adjust that. It should be there, that's just basic design. Audio in general seems to be severely neglected the last 10 or 15 years. Personally I've always thought it was a major part of the experience, it all becomes pretty underwhelming when a 30-06 sounds less intimidating than a red ryder.

I'd say the biggest problem was that it pretended to be a mainline MGS game. I wouldn't care if it was cannon or whatnot, but having it sold as a MGS game just makes it look like shit in comparison to the others, if it was marketed as "fun MGS openworld adventures" it wouldn't receive half the shit it does.

Still, the music problem is pretty noticeable now that you mention it. I wasn't even aware there were songs in the missions other than the cutscene and radio ones. >>16231523 sounds fun as shit and even in the gameplay video I couldn't hear it.

After that just add in missing content like helis and it'd be a decent game without having to change too much. To make it a good game the maps would need to be redesigned from scratch, same for the AI.

Yet, compare it to Ground Zeroes (or any other MGS game really).

You can hear the ambiance infiltration song clearly, the cautious song clearly and the combat alert clearly…But when playing in TPP, they reduce all the music to a very low point, it's stupid.

I just found out that western version of MGR is non canon because in MG universe cyborgs has white blood but in western version of MGR everyone including cyborgs has red blood.

When the Phantom Pain Launched /v/ fawned over it, and even defended its cut ending (thanks Konami) because of the obvious sabotage so a certain group of big noses could go on to make Pachinko Sims. It may have been that its release perfectly timed with a newly formed 8chan but even still, I think it's hipster hate is relatively unwarranted. It may be unfinished but even in that state it struck chords which I haven't seen approached in any other medium. A nation unto itself, a group of people either forced or self inducted into a way of life that they ultimately truely desire, an ominous other constantly trying to dream themselves a master. To me the Phantom Pain may not have been the pinacle of the Metal Gear Series, but like all other entries it was predicting incidents and frames of times yet to come. Esoteric maybe, but it certainly wasn't a bad game by any stretch of the imagination. Had the ending mission been implemented I'd venture people would now call it a perfect game, but obviously that didn't happen. The core gameplay is what kept people coming back and in that sense it was above calibre by comparison to other MG's so I don't understand the hatred that the hip new youngfags have for TPP.

Only tangentially related, but I recently watched a video about why mgs4 is a bad game and sequel, and an interesting premise for it he talked about was that it was because kojima was too focused on fan-service and trying to explain everything. Like Raiden having to be in mgs4 because he was in 2 and people wanted to know what happened with him, even though his arc was finished. And vamp had to be there because raiden needed an antagonist and had no one else, despite vamp having no rational reason to be helping liquid ocelot.

And Big Boss had to be the center of evertything because he was so popular due to 3, and people wanted to see him more, so they made him part of the patriots, as well as all of his stupid infiltration team friends who are obsessed with godzilla, and stupid old war films. And then of course it all had to tie back to the boss because the boss was important to big boss, and zero, so she has to be a major factor in this, and big boss needs a big antagonist too. And then to explain everything else it was nanomachines nanomachines nanomachines, parasites.

Then of course there was the other stuff added in, like overly long cutscenes, barely used locations, like the eastern europe city in the stalking mission, and the boring reused bosses who aped all the former bosses and had totally sad pasts that makes you care about them. As well as naomis retarded death.

I was never a fan of the camo mechanics in MGS3 and above. I was always under the impression that stealth games are at their weakest when you slow down the game to a crawl to not disturb a sound/visibility meter, and I vaguely recall the ship segment with all the frogs near the end was exactly that for like 10 unbroken minutes.
