Anyone still play this? They finally just removed Fair Fight which made clearing dungeons a lot faster. Introduced Trade Ribbons which allows people to buy/sell/trade Epic/Legendary gear. Also right now it's double drop for hard dungeons, so gearing up for raids and collecting upgrade mats is fast. They plan on fixing up some of the endgame RNG in the coming updates.
We still have a /v/ guild going in NA West called "vidya" if anyone is interested in joining.

You can kind of farm them without paying. You get 3 free template vouchers for each character by doing the main quest. I think it's around level 30-40 is when you get them.

It got boring really fast. I thought it would be like early maple mixed with memecraft player sandbox world building but it was the most themepark equest shit ive ever seen in my life. The whole entire leveling experience was just quests and then dungeon fighter shit and gearing was fucking boring nothing like maple. Even the cities were shit and the lore was fucked because it took some kind of Lineage II backwards time route. Player housing and player OC before the jewing was fun though. Too bad they didn't make the entire world like that.

Still a boring game where the content is entirely sandbaggy themepark quests filler until you reach endgame, which is also sandbaggy instances instead.
You get to grind to increase your DPS so you can clear the not challenging or fun static cutscene dungeon yet again, but faster.
MMOs are dead since overarching story questlines tied to progresion and instanced dungeons were first implemented.
Free roaming and doing whatever was within reach just because it was fun in itself was the real deal, but sadly not as much controllable/profitable for the companies.

But they also did away with the standard RO formula of freeroaming and farming mobs to a system qhere EXP is primarily obained from queslines and AFK grinding.

However being Maplestory I gave it a try simply on it's name alone and boy was it nothing like Maplestory. The gameplay was like a ps2/xbox rpg game from 2002 which in itself wouldn't be that bad but it just didn't feel right coming from MAPLESTORY the smooth sidescrolling game we're all use to. The world itself isn't that good either it lacks the wilderness feel of the original and feels more on rails and grand story based. I remember going from lith harbor to whatever city you want to get your first job was like traveling through the unknown and kinda scary honestly.

Played it a while, got to endgame back when it was freshly released on steam. Looks cute and all but the combat system is shallow as fuck and dungeons are just gear checks. I'm personally not too fond of the scattered theme but the whole 3D lego it does have some charm. In the end to me it looks like a glorified interactive chatroom where fags can pretend to be cute girls doing cute things,
Some people are into that, good for them. For me there wasnt one moment I was not wishing I was playing Tree of Savior instead, which is basically the same game but with richer gameplay I know right and less social crap. And I've stopped playing that game a long time ago, its either an endless loop of daily gear grind or a much less efficient chatroom with too much charm for what its worth but at least there is a game somewhere until you realise you can just fix any shit build by dumping money on your equipment. All they had to do was cap gear upgrade with a fair limit and not rng/silver, what a fucking shame.
