The only issue I seem to have is the mission ending bullet screen glitching out and going straight to the final shot and shattering for the results. DMC5 is pretty mediocre, it completely carries itself on you already liking the characters making it feel like a fangame more than anything else. It's incredibly short with only 20 "missions" 8 of those are just a boss rush. All of the final fights are pathetic, they reuse the same fight for dante/nero and V just refights 3 old bosses but without all of his summons.
What little gameplay there is is pretty good, solid 8/10 but held back by it being floaty and awkward compared to DMC3/4. The pacing in general is an absolute joke.
Overall it's a 6/10 game, it's extremely unfinished and the plot is nothing but fanwank cutscenes over and over again.

I would say Dante vs the Final Boss is the real final fight, Nero's fight is more the typical "moment" of triumph, not a real fight. Hell, his damage is totally jacked up and his DT recharges fast by itself. I didn't find the combat floaty or awkward, quite the contrary, I feel like it was pretty much DMC4 but improved and more complex.

You are fighting non stop for the most part of the latter half of the game, if anything, at times it feels like they could have given more time for the story, as it feels rushed and incomplete, specially the ending. Gotta disagree with you, while the game has glaring issues, and I agree with the the assessment about the plot and V's shitty final fight, I would say the game is far from mediocre, actually pretty good with some big issues (Plot, character design and music, some of the tracks are pretty shitty in my opinion)

I'll say so far it would be something like
DMC3=DMC5>DMC4>DMC1>DMC2=DmC
But, I still have to play it in higher difficulties so it may change depending on how it holds up. So far, Gameplay is better than DMC3, level design I'll say is worst but I think I like more the enemies of 5. Music is worse than 3 and so is the plot. Then again, I may change of opinion as I keep playing.

No it isn't, what you describe I think only happens after cerberus fight, and even then there are still a level with enemies and mini bosses, they are just shorter. Also, I'll say DMC2 is weaker, but I agree in that regard that the story needed some work. It has some nice emotional moments and lots of references, but it is pretty weak.

Am I missing something or does NG+ Nero make the Buster Arm obsolete? The only use I can see for it is that you can get the DT grab without spending meter and use an arm instead.

For the most part yeah, one use I can think of is that you can hold an enemy with the Bringer and then Buster an enemy with the Breaker. seems like prefoming a Buster animation cancels your hold tho.

The last beta branch update of Sonic Mania (pw: sonicmaniabeta) removed Denuvo. It's not part of the changelog though, so it's still up in the air.
