Nintendo more than likely raped the shit out of Nvidia for that Tegra. Nvidia had been pushing Tegra and losing money on it for years. It was a massive failure and never had a successful commercial product. And then Nintendo shows up at Nvidia's doorstep and tells them they'll put their Tegra in a product that will probably be successful. Nvidia probably bent over backwards for Nintendo and did whatever they could, specially after the embarrassment of losing Xbox and PlayStation to AMD. If Nintendo didn't take an Nvidia product, Nvidia would not be in any 8th/9th gen consoles.

I assume Nvidia was Nintendo's bitch for Switch, because you don't see Nvidia talking about how Tegra sales being singled out as a win for them in their quarterly reports. In fact looking at the report from summer 2018, Tegra isn't even mentioned. They've sold a ton of Tegra chips that are in the Switch, more than they could have probably imagined. And not a peep about it in their quarterly profit reports.
