Every form of virtualization that I am aware of needs bare metal access to, at a minimum, your GPU, if you want to run games. Assuming that is the case since I have no reason to believe otherwise, that means it is likely an issue with how the game is calling the graphics driver API. The GPU driver is more often than not the security/stability hole in cases like these. The Nintendo Switch has a similar issue which is what allows it to be pirated.

So what exactly causes this? I've heard from elsewhere in the thread that it's because the game overwrites stuff like the BIOS and GPU Firmware for "performance reasons" but I've heard that it's killing other parts aside from just the Mobo. And what about PS4 and Xbox One? I've heard it's also a case of overwriting the firmware itself but on PS4 at least that is a relatively simple fix as I believe you can pop the HDD out and put the firmware files back on it via Sony's website.

From the lack of heat related issues it sounds like a "soft" brick, meaning that the components in question have garbage data written to them that leaves them in an usuable state but they are not malfunctioning or broken, which means you can get them working again with the proper tools. I'm not a console hacking guru so I can't say what it is doing specifically until more information comes out, but as I mentioned in the thread before, my money is on some kind of bug with how the game calls the GPU drivers because those tend to have a code path that leads straight to hardware even if you are using virtualization.
