Anyway, ETQW is a stupid man's Battlefield 2, with some Quake 2 paint on it. It doesn't feel like Q2 at all, not that Q4 did, either. Oddly enough, it's the ONLY game currently installed on my system for some reason.

No it didn't. It's one of the best multiplayer FPS ever made.

Problem is it came out at the same time as TF2, BioShock, Crysis, MoH: Airborne and a bunch of other good non-FPS games so nobody played it and it died super quick.

The gameplay of brink is awesome, the technical realization and the very poor engine design for such gameplay makes it unplayable.

Well it does now but it's like TF2 the more they updated it the more it sucked, it was a perfectly decent game in it's first year.

The reason Quake Wars died was because it came out at nearly the same time as Battlefield 2142.

The original et on the rtcw engine was their best work. Many countless hours enjoyed with the soundpacks and custom maps. One of the few games to do objective based mp right.

Indeed Battlefield 2142 was much better game

1. It run 300% smoother in complex scenes (in close combat). Close combat at poor fps with dropping frames is never satisfying.

2. 1 again.

3. 1 gain.

4. Battlefield 2142 was significantly less linear.

"Clunky" is best word to describe ETQW .Clunky PvP never works.

Only really nice point of the ETQW was wave type of re-spawns. Unfortunately not picked up by other team o team games.

I like the idea of Brink. How come no one else decided to make a multiplayer FPS where everyone has some neat movement abilities and secondary objectives that change the map layout?

Answer: Because Brink was complete ass and Cargo Town(Container Town) was one of the worse maps I've ever played. In fact Brink had some of the most chokepoint-y maps I've ever seen in a game which defeated the point of the park our car system.

Last I checked, there was still one active server for it, but the people behind it are a pack of NEVAR DRUMPH goons. Still, if you can ignore that, persistent soldier accounts and equipment unlocks are available.

I remember brink being one of the most shilled games on cuckchan /v/ back in the days. The gameplay and character design with it's weird mutated heads were horrible.

Is there ANY good class based multiplayer FPS out right now that's not dead and not shit ? I got sick of TF2 ages ago and Dirty Bomb doesn't do it for me anymore.

Indeed but isn't it mostly veterans on it nowadays ? I'm pretty average when it comes to FPS, I used to be pretty good but I went something like 5 years without touching anything demanding.
