I always thought buying sports games each year was (and still is) the dumbest thing ever. All that's different is slight tweak in gameplay and roster. People should wait at least 3 years for every sports game they buy. Even then you probably wouldn't see significant changes.

You guys may laugh at this but there was a time when buying sports games yearly was actually needed to see improvements to the engine and gameplay as well as necessary roster adjustments. Now that DLC and online connectivity and updates and patches are ubiquitous there's absolutely no reason for these games to be rerererereleased yearly without something to shake things up. (((EA))) tried it with wymin soccer and absolutely nobody plays it. They struck gold with lootboxes but they're quite literally monetizing children's gambling habits and that's a no no from the (((EU))).
