Touhou Luna Nights just came out of Early Access and it turned out to be pretty good, the combat in particular since they tend to be mediocre in games like these. What are some other search action games where the combat is good? I heard Valdis City was alright.

If you like 2hus Za Warudo you should try Momodora: Reverie Under The Moonlight. It's not as action packed but it's still really good, if a bit short (around 4-6 hours).

But it doesn't exactly scream "2D platformer with lots of backtracking" to me. I always thought something like Adventure Platformer would've been a better name for Metroidvania.

The only problem I have with "Metroidvania" is the amalgamation of two game titles to define a genre. On one hand, it works because those two ARE genre defining games, but on the other hand, it seems wrong to name a genre that way.

To me, it's 2D platformers, and that works well enough.

Out of curiosity, who coined the term, and what did he do?
