This is the thread where we take a look at and remember all the shit that has happened in the previous decade in the games-industry. I mean the paid reviews, botched games that were covered up, game censorship, discussion censorship, journalistic corruption, GamerGate, how greedy publishers allied themselves with the SJWs/Cultural-Marxists to turn videogaming into a propaganda machine for the modern age, examples of how disgusting and pathetic these "people" are, and much much more.
I have a small folder here with pictures, infographics and videos regarding the topic at hand that I will be dumping, but I'm missing a lot of stuff, so I will be asking for your help to contribute with similar stuff that you may have saved, I especially welcome infographics.
And of course you can freely discuss any subject regarding vidya corruption, like how Resetera now harasses people and commits crimes like doxxing and are being protected by the journos and the industry, even though those were the main points that were used to falsely attack people defending Gamergate back in the day, but now it seems that it is ok for them to do the same thing they acussed people of doing with no repercussions.

2018 was the first year in many that the videogame industry didn't grow. When Gamergate happened, people said that it was a "conspiracy theory" that radical left ideologues from twitter and other places were controlling the media and using it to spread propaganda, nowadays it's almost impossible to deny that.
A second-rate publisher comes to hold a AMA on an obscure videogame board, and everyone even the bigger names freak out about it, the way the press and twitter acted towards THQ cannot be seen in any other way than a power move to punish them from even acknowledging something from outside the narrative, and without doing next to nothing the traffic of this board went 30% up and counting.

GDC itself is run by greedy kikes who increase the price of admission every year. They also lock a lot of the talks behind an online paywall, which is ridiculous since they could just put them on YouTube for free. Also, speakers are responsible for travel and hotel costs, which is bullshit since they're the ones dedicating time and effort to impart their knowledge to other developers, and eve company that runs GDC profits from that effort (through the paywall).

In the early 2000's, maybe 2004ish give or take a year, GameSpy got caught giving a highly favorable review for a Nintendo (a Mario game iirc) game that turned out to be utter shit. At first people thought the review was pre-written and phoned in because it was a reliable series that was usually good but after more came to light, it was found out that it was pre-written because Nintendo gave a bunch of freebie kickbacks to the reviewer. The whole thing blew up, other review sites trashed GameSpy for taking bribes, and GameSpy issued an apology. Eventually it was forgotten and swept under the rug. This is the oldest event of the kind that I personally remember, pre-dating Gamergate by a decade.

There's this youtube channel, "Larry Bundy Jr", the guy talks a lot about the 80s and 90s british PC gaming scene, and it seems that bribing and secretly paid reviews exist since the beginning of the industry, since videogames were seen as toys back then so nobody cared about integrity.
With the years and the "maturing" of the industry things should have gotten better, but actually only got worse, and SJWs used that to infiltrate themselves in the industry and profit from it while spewing propaganda at the same time. Gamergate just revealed everything that was hidden from public until then. And there's much more that we still don't know.
Btw the guy also covered the "drivergate" scandal that was almost erased from the internet and also predates Gamergate, I recommend his channel.

I can't recall that 2008-2009 one, but I do recall there being some scandal regarding a small-scale contest for the german-developed GOTY 2013.
The contest judges decided for Crysis 3 as GOTY as it was the only game that wasn't a low budget forklift simulator or point n click adventure, but then the local representative from the federal(?) german government who was coincidentally sponsoring the event stepped in and told them to remove Crysis 3 from the top spot citing muh bildungsauftrag, equality and violent videogames as reasons.
The judges didn't want this so the government threatened to cut funding, which lead to the judges and developers fucking off simultaneously and releasing their top 10 ranking on the Internet anyway wether this was done due to financial constraints, government threats or sheer disgust I do not know.
