Warrior Within is great, but the tone is nothing like what you had in the first game.

It's tits, ass, a lot of metal and gore. Must-play if you don't mind the different setting and atmosphere.

The Two Thrones is hit and miss. I heard there were some changes during development that fucked it up.

I still like it, but the drop in quality is noticeable. Definitely worth playing if you liked the previous 2.

Then there was a 2008 reboot which was bad and plays nothing like the previous games.

The greatest irony is that the new combat system is great, but there's barely anything to fight and there is no way to fail.

It's mostly an awkward platformer. Recommended if you want to see what wasted potential looks like.

The Forgotten Sands are just mediocre.

The title couldn't be more fitting.

The Two Thrones is more or less Warrior Within with a dark form mechanic. It copies

>bosses

from WW. The only new things are the occasional stealth mechanic and the dark form. And the music isn't mostly rock.

TTT is literally the shittiest of the trilogy

I got Warrior Within with a new computer for my birthday back in the day, I had only heard about Sands of Time on TV, but only played the "original" on NES, so I had no real idea of what to expect.

it's a shame people shit on it for being one of the earliest examples of "EDGY DARK GREY AND BROWN REMAKE/SEQUEL FOR THE COOL GROWNUP KIDS". It felt a bit more repetitive than Sands of Time, but I haven't beaten either.

For that same reason I can't really comment on the HD remaster since I failed to install it on my PS3.

As the others have sad, play WW and TT as well. I really do like WW, and one of those reasons is that it deals well with both a time-travel plot and a "you cannot change your destiny" plot, as the prince has to die once in WW and another time in TT to change his faith of dying, because he opened the hourglass.

i remember when the first gameplay footage appeared, and people speculated that you would play the son and daughter of the Prince, now King, which would have been a great way of both doing a sequel and a soft-reboot. Plus they could also have included a scene where the Prince, now an older dude kicks ass and saves his kids.

The original creator of PoP owns the IP, not Ubisoft. A remaster is the only thing that has any potential to happen since Ubisoft (nor any other huge dev) doesn't want to build up something they don't own. You might see a reboot Kickstarter.

The only one consistent in tone with the first if the wii version of Forgotten Sands. All others are functional action platformers, but the main character and setting is like another IP.

The reboot had a great girl in it. Also, Prince of Persia is kind of pointless with Assassin's Creed around. The parkour and combat is covered by AC, the only thing missing is of course the time mechanics. They'd have to do some serious work to make it worthwhile.
