Would you play a game where every mission is an escort mission if the shooting was fun, the graphics were good and the character you play as was cool enough?

Hypothetically, should this game exist? Is there a market for this?

c53635  No.16134063

I would play a street shitting game if you made it fun and interesting enough. But no matter how photorealistic you've made the shit, it won't help if the gameplay isn't fun.

Worst idea ever.

you'd need specific mechanics for it then.

if you just have it become a regular FPS mechanics and just add something to protect the entire time won't be fun. it has to be specifically geared to protecting.

you can idea guy the rest.

A bodyguard game which plays like a reverse Hitman could be cool.

Basically an entire game built around stuff like pic related.

1df2fe  No.16134079

It'd be like Hitman where each mission is a different location and client. You'd be protecting all sorts of interesting people from politicians to bio weapons-scientists and even "terrorists".

Your character is a freelance bodyguard in a fictional world that's dangerous and fucked up enough to have such a business.

I feel like that would play out more like a puzzle game. It would probably be easier to make it fun that way, than trying to make an escort mission in FPS/TPS enjoyable like OP was proposing.

I can imagine it working out as either a top-down or otherwise "detached" camera. Imagine you are a security officer working in a hotel or an office building. Most of your job would involve sitting behind a desk, watching cameras and keeping tabs on various visitors. All (or most) attendees would sign-in at the front desk, so you'd have a possible list of names and reasons for their visit. Using the cameras you keep tabs on the building, noting suspicious activity to try and prevent a would-be hitman from assassinating a CEO, or making off with a briefcase containing manufacturing details on your company's newest product.

Laying all this out, I'm sure a game like this exists by now.

It should have only ever been a spin-off. It ruined the series forever after.

The AI cannot be realistically playtested enough and tardproofed so I'd rather have an assymetric co-op game with one player being VIP and the other his bodyguard.

Game should feature VoIP and crash if you have reddit or a discord account voice chat would work either as a headset you have as characters, but in certain difficulties can be jammed or damaged, which then forces you to communicate by yelling or use preset gestures.

>Hitman where each mission is a different location and client.

But would it have depression mechanics over failing to protect or losing client?

fa1985  No.16134307

Make it about a private security company, starting small where you are just a lone security guard inside a warehouse with one shitty camera and a taser and gradually make it more complex until you are guarding the new president during his inauguration.

Use your funds for upgrades like extra camera coverage, motion detectors and silent alarms as well as more active guards for patrols with better training and equipment as well as dogs for sniffing out explosives.

Include hard limitations on what you can utilize based on the clients wishes like a libtard activist forbidding you from arming the guards with firearms or a paranoid politician not allowing cameras to be set up to protect his shady secrets from potential exposure.

Maps would be semi randomized where the layout would generally stay the same with a few minor adjustments like at one point the elevators being out of service or some of the rooms being locked out due to renovations.

There would be several threat types with various levels of danger like bombers, spree shooters, professional assassins, psychopaths and they would range from ghost boy tier incompetence all the way to agent 47 where you have to break your balls to even spot him let alone neutralize.

It would be in first person like swat with heavy emphasis on squad command and control through cell comunications.

There could even be a few fully scripted missions like a power outage in the middle of an embassy party where you would have to deal with lack of light and electricity all the while struggling to move through panic stricken crowds as you desperately try to find the attackers and neutralize them before anyone dies.

You would get rewarded based on your rank like in swat and no casualties+threats being taken out in nonlethal fashion would give the best payoffs most of the time but some clients would hint that they would prefer the attackers to die before the start of the mission and doing these optional objectives would give their own payoffs like black market upgrade access or discounts for certain equipment.

Tard wrangler is one of the worst professions out there, so no, I don't think such game should exist.

What I'd like to play is a game about being a medieval or medieval fantasy mercenary/gang member/party member (not a leader) with realistic combat and permadeath (like Exanima) where you have little to no say in the matter and get rewarded based on your performance (compared to the other comnbatants).

it would sound fun to be some suit covering the asses of increasingly wealthy and powerful people that face various threats. but would you go around checking the area, any food the client wil eat or even people? and what time period will it be set in? will i get to use the "object that isnt a gun but is actualy a gun in disguise" gun? will there be missions in which the client is already in a dangerous situation and you have to get them out like being held hostage or for ransom?

There's an old game with called Secret Service: In Harms Way. It was a good idea with great physics for it's time, but it was poorly executed as it had bad AI.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secret_Service_(2001_video_game)

I love the style though. Rather than inserting women as soldiers/knights for diversity points, you can make them undercover bodyguards that would give you the element of surprise. You can have them interact with the crowd, communicating with other team members to notice discrepancies.

Use the battle royales fad and do a game of 4 guys defending 1 target against other 4 guys that want it dead, similar to mercs vs spies of splinter cell mp

c7b2b1  No.16135863

How about one where you're not really that into it because you only make $25/hr to take a bullet for some rich putz, so the idea is to pin the blame on the other guards when something bad happens?

1df2fe  No.16136234

>>16134651

No, it's more like Hitman but with a freelance bodyguard who ensures the safety of the powerful and sometimes evil. The people you protect or fail to do so would have an impact on the world around you depending on when in the timeline it would take place. The game would save after just about every action similar to the Souls series so there would be no take backs and a failed mission is more than just a failed mission.

deebab  No.16136247

I vaguely remember an old flash/webunity game where the whole gimmick was going through all sorts of obstacles just to jump in front of a bullet, it was a neat idea but it got played out quick.

It'd be AAA or AA, about what you'd expect from a Hitman game graphically.

deebab  No.16136277

>>16136256

No, it reminded me a lot of that one Drunken Sumo Wrestler freeware or Qwop where a lot of the charm was how the physics made everything all whacky and loose. But at the same time it wasn't as fun to play as anything else in that genre like any of those stick figure fighting games.

isn't that just skyrim though
