Honestly I dropped Mother 3 out of boredom. Earthbound at least had the benefit of having a unique atmosphere, Mother 3 dropped that for a sob story about the horrors of civilization such as modern medicine and plumbing. The timed hits battle system was neat but it alone wasn't enough to carry an entire game, so all that was left was the music that is also inferior to the second's.

Honestly I think my biggest gripe with the story of Mother 3 is that it feels like it's trying to say something with that whole nature vs. technology theme, but it feels like that something doesn't make sense. You could argue that it what it was trying to say is that technology is bad, but DCMC were nice to Duster and I doubt that their instruments and amps were around pre-timeskip. You could also argue that technology is only bad when it's abused, but The End of The World isn't implied to be caused by just bad technology, but technology in general. I don't understand what the message is.
