Was the death of LAN play an end to actual social gaming ? Not that made up mumbo jumbo matchmaking with 10000 features.
Perhaps not all of you have experienced it, but gathering a bunch of buddies over to play was super fun and very simple to do, more so than any consolefaggotry with several controllers and one monitor.
Look at this vid. This is not some ancient period of time, this was a mere 13 years ago. Sweden was still predominantly white.
Not that I haven't been robbed or spat on by crazy people in LAN clubs in slavland, but bear with me. There was a distinct social element to this thing.
Was it our faults as humans that doomed LAN, other than the obvious internet improvements and accessibility of computers ? All the character oddities that came with people who spend tons of time on games ?
What did companies get out of killing LAN ? Paying for near-constant server support is not really cheaper. They didn't kill piracy, nor did they save themselves from copyright issues related to modding. Financially I do not see it justified at all.
Was Basshunter's mom right ?
Look at their room, it probably stinks like arse and energy drinks
How is it that gaming became a more and more individual experience?
Strategy games haven't been mainstream outside of Korea maybe and the only way to bunch up with other people is to go to major events that universally suck.
I've been to LAN clubs that had regular chicks
that shit is impossible nowadays
