That was an issue with Episode VI before editing. Lucas tends to fail with pacing, scene placement and these odd moments of slapstick humor he peppers through the movies.

The prequels sucked as movies because what Lucas tried to do did not fit that format, or at least he was incapable of making it fit. Compared to the OT, which was character/narrative focused, the PT was more about lore and the larger Universe. This works much better in mediums like books/comics/tv shows than as a movie trilogy. You have a very limited time to show things in a few movies, and most movie goers don't want to sit through larger amounts of exposition. Even then, the political intrigue aspect of the movies could have been much better. Take the first movie, and the situation with the Trade Federation blockading Naboo. The stakes behind all of that is never well elaborated, despite a lot of exposition being devoted to it. Viewers never get a clear sense of why all this is happening. We just know some evil sith lord somehow orchestrated all of this and that it's bad, and the goods guys will stop it.

It's a damn shame really, because the expanded universe is really interesting. Way moreso than the empire vs rebels shit, which as far as I'm concerned was done with the OT. Of course, Disney kikes saw all the shit thrown at the prequels, and they saw how they could capitalize on "evil white empire" vs "progressive rebels".

Wasn't he supposed to be much older when he first got mentioned in the original trilogy? He was first introduced as a Jedi Master and a good friend of Obi Wan. I think the prequel trilogy made the same mistake that Terminator 2 did when they introduced John Connor as a punk kid rather than a young adult. Anakin shouldn't have showed up as a 10 year old boy and probably should have shown up as a teen, which would have made him closer in age to Obi Wan. Hayden was the wrong choice. It should have been someone a bit older and Lucas should have found someone else to do the dialogue. He works well at building up the universe and the overall story, but his dialogue is fucking atrocious.

There is a vast majority of the galaxy that isn't shown. the republic had the capabilities to flex its and free the slaves but they overlooked it because they didn't want to start a war to free slaves. they just bicker and argued over useless things and never got anything done.
