>i miss all the immature but incredibly funny humor in video games
You know what game's humor I really miss? GTA.
GTA 1&2 were just so ridiculous in their absurdity, where you had a gameshow announcer, and a cheering crowd to go along with it, even the audience going "awww" as you died. Then 3 onward, the Housers decided it had to be the fucking Sopranos, or Boyz n The Hood or Behind Enemy Lines, while the only form of 'comedy' is outright satire that's too on-the-nose and lacks any subtlety, have to make sure the twelve-year-olds that play now, have some understanding of what R* is alluding to when it comes to a country that they don't even fucking live in.
Saints Row 2 did a nice job at humor, in that perfect mix between immature fart jokes and some serious shit, that's the kind of stuff I'd actually want to see more of. Not that I'm opposed to immature/funny humor through and through, but seems like all of the humor delivered in games now, are solely intended for kids, anything remotely topical is handled with kid gloves.
>but anon, isn't that just the definition of immature and funny humor?
Not really, because you can still be immature and funny, while being somewhat cohesive and intelligent. Context and subtlety are two wonderful elements of comedy that fell to the wayside within the past fifteen years or so, and it sucks.
