I always thought the Dolls and ability to ride around in them looked like fun, but can't play it myself. Having liked Gears I figured it might be MonolithSoft making a full return to the mech games they love to make.

2 has never been appealing to me due to the garbage artstyle and way it seems like a shameless rip-off of 1.

And to those who criticize it for being a single player mmo, isn't that part of the appeal? That it has tons of content of like an MMO without needing to gimp players to maintain the MMO environment and economy like something like WoW does? I'm curious.

Chronicles X is fucked beyond just Treehouse, but Treehouse fucked it up in the west beyond repair. You have quests to collect shit, except collecting stuff is just running over blue dots with a chance of getting the material you need based on the location you are in. Likewise for collecting monster body parts, as it doesn't always seem to be enough to destroy the body part and sometimes they are a pain to get a lock on but it seems like there is random chance there too. The story pushes the multiculturalism and diversity narrative, which wouldn't bother me so much if the humans were forming a mosaic empire. IE: the bug people go to this region that suits them the best, the annoying midgets go to another region, and the "humans" live in their own region. It has the standard JRPG issue of the map being the entire world, and making the world seem absolutely tiny because of it; though the map, from a game perspective, seems huge at first, pretty good once you get the dolls, and too small once you get flight. The game's story and the game itself are at odds with one another. The game's story puts you on the clock to move forward with the main stuff, but the majority of the side quests are pretty pointless busywork that no one should have time for because the clock is ticking down to the destruction of mankind.

The game also builds up humanity as special, but it ultimately doesn't go anywhere because of the ending.

What level should you be for that? Asking because grinding ruins the game so badly that I gave up on a 100% run out of sheer boredom. I didn't have a single vision against Xord or the tentacle thing where you get Speed.

No, you don't have to. You'll be missing out the best exploration, side quests, and gameplay the series has to offer though. The main plot is not good, and there are a lot of let downs for characters too, though. If you do play XBX, read the manual. This will save you a lot of headache when it comes to understanding how the combat.

Honestly you could start with 2 and you'd probably be fine. I'd recommend playin X after 1 only because of the mechanical similarities, X expands on the ideas 1 had while 2 goes in a different direction. That having been said, X is really nothing like 1 or 2 content wise. Do you like running around exploring a decently interesting world, fucking around, and giant robots? You'll probably like X. Do you like good story, good music, and convenient piracy? You'll probably not have a good time. As some people said, you're doing to want to add a patch to the US version, but all it does is add some uncensored models and Japanese voices. You don't even get the boob slider. If you can read Japanese, you'll have to buy or pirate the DLC because the only good thing Treehouse did was give you all the DLC on disc. I had a pretty good time with it, but I also didn't pay for that shit and that makes me feel better about a lot of things. If you haven't played Xenogears that's a better way to spend your time. I'd recommend Xenosaga if I knew anything about Xenosaga, aside from the fact that the DS version of 1 and 2 might be better.

Anon, you should maximize your item find stat. That way, you will get items 100% from every part you destroy. True some parts are low rate, but the chances for drops can be 100%. The only stupid fucking thing about the loot system is having legendary materials being gatekeeped by the fucking boss rush mode which is tideous as fuck. Thus is why it was way easier to just pick up other players' squads online, max lvl them to 99 and then get credits that you can buy the legendary mats with without having to use the boss rush shit mode. Fucking baffling.

Its been so long I don't remember, I just recall that you actually needed to concoct an appropriate composition and rotation to beat some of them, whereas in XC2 they were HP sponges that posed no threat. And yeah XC1s story bosses were jokes. I wish the Level mechanic would go away in general, it tends to ruin the progression in JRPGs where they'll only be hard for the first couple hours, then again in the post game unless they just don't even try like with XC2.

I'm not sure how XCXGecko works, but I've even heard the size change isn't actually permanent (or I'm misremembering something I misread). I'm sure if you really wanted to you could find the place where the character parameters are stored and edit it in a hex editor, but that's definitely a lot of effort.

If you're playing on WiiU there's a homebrew for backing up saves. In Cemu it should be stored inside the Cemu folder which should be easy enough to pass onto another install.

2's literally just Xenogears, but with all the characters and their roles remixed, and less depressing. Unless you mean mechanically, in which case it's like Xenoblade at the most basic level but with a different direction, given how the Blade system works. It also drip feeds you mechanics so slowly that you learn new ones practically in the next to last chapter, and even then doesn't explain some shit (like Just Range). Or are you just saying it's shit because you know nothing about the game? Because if I'm being honest, Xenoblade is the most shallow Xeno- game in a lot of ways. Although that's only because I'm pretty sure X has something we won't understand until XII comes out.
