Let's help each other in search of games that you played a long time ago but can't remember the name of.

I have two of them:

One of them is a turn based strategy game where you played as a dwarf. I remember you starting the game with a cutscene where some kind of meeting was taking place and then fighting a bunch of maneating plants in the garden of some dwarf or something.

The second one is what seemed to be either an rts with simulation game elements or pure simulation sci-fi game where you controlled units against your enemy, and there was something either with them being telepathically controlled, having brains inside of them or being incredibly advanced AI, I can't fucking remember.

I have a fuzzy memory of a ps1 game but the more i search the more confused i get. When i got my modded ps1 i got it with a bunch of bootleg games so when i got home me and my dad started testing them.

I remember someone walking up to the entrance stairs of a house, then some kind of (dark?)room(with a desk?) and i think the player character was in there?Maybe it was a cutscene since i remember my dad complaining about how boring the game was before shutting off the console.Another memory was of a dark screen with only the words "persona", i thought it was the same game but after seeing the persona 1 intro they are probably different games.

You mean The New Nighmare? Can't say it looks familiar. Some parts of the intro do look like the room and the letters on the screen remind me of the whole persona thing. The memory of a person entering the house is not in the intro, so still confused. Thanks anyway.

PALcuck here.

I remember that one RPG from when I was in elementary school. Must've been like ~ 2000, 2002. The PS2 was the dankest new thing and they had one showcased at my local games store.

I distincly remember that one Rygar Action Adventure game from that era. At the same time another booth featured some RPG with battlescreens.

There was an isometric overhead perspective and the player was in some kind of labyrinth or dungeon where he was walking on intertwined passages of floating tiles with an abstract background.

I explicitely remember that whatever character was on screen walking and the first member of the fighting party had a parasol as a weapon (think it was a woman?).

This one has been bugging me ever since basically. I remember all and every other game from that time.

It wasn't isometric but Okagi Shadow King had everything else you describe.

Shit, anon. I mean, from what I've seen, that might just be it.

Although it's strange that I don't remember that giant shadow nigger standing in the middle of every battlescreen. Memory is one helluva drug.

I remember watching my brother and his friend play some playstation 1 roleplaying game that was kind of like a dungeon crawler.

No, that wasn't it, although I do remember masturbating to the ads in my brother's old game magazines in the bathroom when I hit puberty.

The game that I'm thinking of was first person, very slow paced. I wish I could remember more details, but I must have been six or seven at the time, so 1998 or '99.

That might have been it. I do distinctly remember one part of the game where my brother and his friend kept dying. They kept entering a church, or a building like one and kept getting killed by some troll-looking character–big, hulky guy.

d84855  No.16020792

I remember some beat 'em up me and my brother played way back when on our PCs on windows 98 (I think). I think you could use either a guy robot that was large and strong or a girl robot that could fly.

Theres this one game I remember playing on a hotel console when I was little on vacation. It seemed like a 3d game like the legend of zelda but I cant be sure. The thing that sticks out in my mind though is that during the prologue, due to certain events a giant wind up key falls into the ocean impaling a giant sperm whale and the next scene after is that the whale was transformed into something looking sinister and evil.

For some reason the fill tool in oekaki is fucking up and the applet looks all retarded in my autistic browser, but this was a game back on win95 iirc, and it was a quadrant that had a castle in each. I believe the barriers between them were destructible, and in retrospect it was kind of a worms clone, maybe? There was a dragon that would randomly pick a castle to go by and fuck shit up.

Can't remember shit else but that I played the fuck out of it on a hand-me-down computer back before the AOL Red days.

A cartoony game where you control a couple (four?) characters and have to navigate through terrain. I remember the kiddy toons having a lot of hair or afros or something. My memory is vague, but I remember a lot of red and blue. It was a asymmetric top-down game I played on an old Windows XP toaster.

989f96  No.16020990

I don't remember a dragon in any of the versions but the rest sounds like Rampart.

a63b31  No.16021006

>>16020990

>Rampart

Doesn't seem to be it, but thanks anyway, anon. What I forgot to mention is that the background was solid black, and that the view was not isometric, but fully side-on 2D with a very limited color palate - I'm talking like 8 colors, here.

I should play that, the devs made Legaia. The Gamespot review from 2000 gave it a 4/10 because the fucking retard thought the game was too hard.

Half of the levels are people trying to kidnap the poor fellow

>I should play that

>review from 2000 gave it a 4/10 because the fucking retard thought the game was too hard.

Well it is and it isn't, there's a few puzzles that rely on things you don't really know you can do and precise movement through a fairly shitty and rigid camera, if you have no issue with those the game is mostly easy until you get to that one island and then it all goes to hell but that's late game so it should be hard.

All collectables though is pure fucking bullshit especially if you decide to forego using a guide, but the minigames are some next level-tier bullshit although they're all optional.

a63b31  No.16021418

>>16021156

Ahh, that looks really cool, but tha'ts not it, either. The game I'm talking about only had one screen - that quadrant - and that's it. This game has way more than 8 colors too, I wasn't exaggerating about that. Grey, yellow, black, blue, white, red, green…that's what I mean. All solid colors.

3601fe  No.16025799

>>16021045

>I should play that, the devs made Legaia.

Legend of Legaia was a dual effort by Contrail and Prokion, rather than Contrail and Matrix Software like Alundra 2 (Alundra 1 was solely Matrix Software at that, and from what I've heard it didn't share much staff with the sequel even then).

>The Gamespot review from 2000 gave it a 4/10 because the fucking retard thought the game was too hard.

From what I've seen over the years, there's really not much liking for Alundra 2 amongst anons either. Alundra 1 is the one people consider good, but of course it got [WORKED] courtesy of Viccy Ireland.

a823e3  No.16027179

I've asked for this game a couple of times on similar threads, but I've been trying my hardest to remember the name of this PS2-era Japanese tank game, which I would describe as ground Ace Combat with awful graphics. The first level had the player fighting a ton of tanks in some European-style town with a clock tower in the center.

989f96  No.16027192

>>16021418

What you're describing is starting to sound more like a ZX Spectrum game than anything in the AOL era.

Well. Maybe Hungry Ghosts will teach me everything I need to know about moon, I can barely be bothered to play RPGs with good translations (are there any, incidentally? Maybe War of the Lions and Let Us Cling Together, when Square actually appreciated what they had)
