Some really early leak was saying that Dante was going to become the new king of hell and Vergil would be saved but would stay in the human world.
It's probably fake given how early it was but I like it in a "funny how things work out" kinda way, I think it would be somewhat fitting ending without just outright killing him.

Vergil is one theory and V's purpose is to deliver some item or power to Vergil down in hell. Imagine if you spend most of the game as V or at least his levels and then switch to Vergil. Maybe we'll finally get the Vergil/Dante fight where you play as Vergil.

I don't know what to expect but seeing how this game is pulling from all of the media of this universe even "non-canon", like Nico (grand daughter of Nell Goldstein, a character from the DMC1 novel), The Demon Tree (DMC1 Novel), Morrison & Patty (DMC Anime), Nero having a DMC neon sign (DMC4 novel), etc. It's safe to assume that V's identity or relation to Vergil or Urizen has its roots on already existing lore. So don't be surprised if V's "twist" hinges on non-canon material or if it retcons some shit. I think he's an avatar for Vergil and given how most plot twist in the series are a) character having an alter ego or b) "good" character related to the main bad guy, it might be possible.

DMC4 was easy enough compared to DMC3SE and if the demo is anything to go by I don't expect DMCV to be breaking balls on normal or even "hard". I've seen casuals get S ranks on the demo and most people won't care for those on their first playthrough. My favorite thing about this game besides the gameplay is the sheer mystery of it. It just gets me rock solid just thinking about it every time, but modern games usually disappoint me so I'll just assume the twist will be shit and hope to be pleasantly surprised.
