Can't lie. I postironically enjoy FF13 now. I played it, expecting to hate it, but somehow came away amazed by the visual creativity and graphical prowess on display. While I didn't like its battle system as much as FF15 or FF12, it was still action oriented enough to keep me interested throughout. Of the main cast of characters, Hope's pussiness was the only one I sincerely hated. Everyone else I still remember fondly. Especially the girls, who were hot.

You should absolutely play 3 (or the remake), 4, 5 and 6 (maybe even the remake of one with fan patches to remove the retarded choices like locking out new content if you don't kill 90% of your recruits) eventually, but start with the seventh game (released as just Fire Emblem). 7 is the most polished, beginner friendly, highest replay value, has a standalone story and contains a bunch of forced tutorials (though there's a fan patch to remove them if not playing on cart).
Really 3, 7 and 9 are the only good ones to start with, and 3 is a rung lower. 3 is a classic and contains a condensed (no shitty gimmick stages) version of the original, but it's more primitive in a lot of ways.

It's really hard to recommend playing AH anyways regardless of what people tell you because in the end it really is pretty much exactly what it seems and it's not good
3 international on the other hand has genuine reason to play over the JP version because the physics are more arcade-like and it cuts most of the missions that aren't very exciting (except the fucking retarded canyon one) to play in the JP version it also might have less slowdown due to less planes and cutting a few effects,
3 JP you absolutely have to play once if you care about AC because the story is interesting enough regardless of how bad you think the physics might be but it's really not the be all end all ultimate version some people are trying to pass it as., now if someone were to put an option to play with the physics from the INT version in the JP version and maybe a streamlined arcade only campaign with no story no wingmates and more enemies to shoot at that would be a different story.

Fusion should be played only when you are already in the franchise and committed. If you are not and only have a limited poll to try, Super Metroid and Zero Mission should take priority. Hell even AM2R and Samus Returns should take priority, as well as all the 3D prime games, before Fusion.
So in most cases yes anon is generally making a safe bet to skip Fusion. Even if you skip Other M, Federation Force, Pinball and Prime Hunters most of the rest of the entire Metroid catalog post-Super is more worthwhile to play then Fusion.

The combat system is actually pretty great, the issue is you don't get a chance to really use it until the last like 5-10 hours of the game when you actually have some freedom. The game railroads you into one specific option so hard the whole way that most people probably don't even make it to the good part at the end, and if they do it may just be out of a sense of duty to finish what they start. Doing the missions at the end with a full party you can play how you want is great, the whole fucking game should have been like that.

6 is actually one of my favorite games in the series. The only real problem is the enemy reinforcement being able to spawn and attack on the same turn, but even then it's pretty easy to avoid getting fucked over by them if you know the kind of places they tend to spawn from(forts, staircases, etc.) Even getting all of the divine weapons isn't hard as long you keep everyone alive and don't play at a snail's pace.

Breath of Fire I can be skipped directly for Breath of Fire II's retranslation. That's not to say that Breath of Fire I isn't enjoyable though, it's just more clunky and more generic. Play it if you know Japanese, as far as I'm concerned it's a similar situation with the 2nd game, only it doesn't have a retranslation. Aside from that, it's still enjoyable if you love standard JRPGs and it has little hints of unique good game design that other developers could take notes on, it's just that Breath of Fire II is so much better.

I don't know where you lived that not everybody had a GBA already. I bought 4 used GBA link cables for dirt cheap for LoZ:FSA and FF:CC and everybody brought their own GBAs that they already had.

False, the kalpa opens for new content, but after that can be 100% ignored from there without a change to the story and is never explicitly told to you that the other ends are straight objective bad endings, even if you go for it you're sill never given explicit other endings are bad dialogue.

Casualisation doesn't = quality of life unless you're a literal bottom feeder who needs the game played for you, I don't call mass MP regen neglecting management, dungeon mechanic dodging scanners and giving the MC a massive move set when he's meant to be the summoner not the main DPS/Support/healer unit a quality of life change when it completely invalidates the original challenge and design of the game.

11 should be played exclusively for the weapons, which are the best in the series. I'll agree that the game overall is pretty slight, and the music sucks, but it's easily worth a playthrough if you can find it on sale.
