Jesus, you people are contrarian fucks, and your arguments don't even make sense.
Just because the series isn't the "literally hardest games ever" doesn't mean the games aren't hard.
If souls and bloodborne don't count as "hard" then by all means, define what really makes a game "hard".
I guaran-fucking-tee not a single one of you can come up with a definition that isn't either applicable to these games or totally nonsensical.
For example:
>>15961259
>When BB effectively removed the tools of measuring risk, positioning, blocking and ranged attacks
Literally none of this is accurate.
>tools of measuring risk
What "tools" are you even talking about? Do you mean guarding through damage with a shield? Did you seriously play through all of the games blocking attacks just to see how deadly they were before actually doing anything? If so, you might have fucking autism, legitimately. The enemy is trying to kill you. Every hit is going to be designed to try and kill you. You don't need to check how much the attack is going to kill you beforehand, because the important part is not taking damage and dying in the first place. Why not just assume all attacks are deadly and dodge them outright, instead of standing there like an idiot letting the enemy hit you so you can go "hmmmmmmmm yes I think that attack is quite dangerous, I better sit here for a bit longer and see what else is in store before taking action".
>positioning
Name 1 (one) instance where positioning mattered more in Souls than in Bloodborne, because fun fact: it doesn't. The only time positioning matters in souls is if you're behind the enemy for your easy-way-out backstab chain or AI abuse, which aren't intended gameplay effects. In bloodborne, positioning affects whether or not your attacks hit sweet-spots for stunning bosses or whether or not you open yourself up to dangerous attacks meant to punish circle-strafers, which are intended gameplay effects. They're effectively the same otherwise, but bloodborne more intentionally makes use of positioning.
>blocking
In souls, it's always better to dodge an attack than it is to block one. Having more-but-shittier options does not make the game better. The only real upside to shields was having the ability to parry attacks with good timing, which ironically is still an option in bloodborne thanks to sidearms! Go figure!
>ranged attacks
Okay now I'm not sure you even know what bloodborne is. You see how the guy on the boxart has a gun? That gun is a ranged weapon with which you can shoot people at range. There's a bunch of them. Maybe you should play the game so you can see how many guns there are.
