Between this and Streets of Rage 4 there's a now not entirely hopeless future of couch co op games. Still wouldn't hold my breath on either of them being any good though but we'll see.

TECKNECKALLY River City Ransom Underground. Plays perfect, great music, four player couch or online co-op, drop in supported. Alas, it's too easy to stick with the Ansatu-Klone guy forever, since his combos are so easy to dial, and he's got a hadouken, tatsumakisempuukyaku, and shoryuuken.

Actually getting on topic, now that I remember the events of Rival Showdown the announcement for this game seems less weird. After all, Kobayashi is so damn strong he wasn't affected by the Flower of Evil at all in Yamada's upriing. And it wasn't even some inner light stuff, considering his cutscenes he seems like such a broken kid that he may as well have had a sample of the Flower of Evil itself.

Hopefully this game actually goes at least a bit deeper into the Flower of Evil, perhaps as some sort of gameplay mechanic if he DOES gets his hands on that, and in terms of story just goes full Jungian.
