But back then and even now you can always back up saves via USB. The idea I have to do some magic paperclip, homebrew Google Chrome crack to the system just to be able to back up my save files without giving these Jews of the orient my money is beyond me. And that no one has mentioned this in any of the censorship threads or otherwise where Switch is spoken of, is crazy.

why would it make you redownload your game to upload your save data to an SD card? doesnt the switch have internal storage for game saves?

on ps4 and xbox you have a save game location, then you can optionally upload it to a USB drive, or if you pay for it by getting ps+, upload it to cloud storage.

is the game save data linked to the actual game files? like you cant delete the game without deleting both or something?

Game saves go on the internal 32GB memory and the only way to export/import to and from the microSD is homebrew. You also can't move the game itself between internal memory and microSD without redownloading the entire game. Paying for (((Switch Online))) lets you use online save backups but only for certain games e.g. you can't give a Pokemon to a friend or your supple, naive, underage sister and reset your save to get it back.

if you haven't autorcm'd your switch and boot exclusively cfw, you're doing something wrong as you can use checkpoint to backup save files, on the bonus side apparently you can convert wii u game savefiles to the switch, with the specific example of breath of the wild

Nintendo and save files have been non-existent since at least the 3DS. Even Sony don't fuck it up as badly, the way you back up games on Vita is with the content manager or QCMA which copies the entirety of a game (updates, DLC, save data) to your computer. You can only use it between systems activated on the same PSN. Alternatively jailbreak and then you can move anything and pirate anything freely, and enjoy a proper save manager. With jailbreaking you can also straight up copy the entire SD card to a new one and use it.

sonys is pretty good for a modern console. you can just back shit up to an external USB device. my only complaint is that the saves are account-specific as far as i can tell. so you cant utilize someone else's save which would be nice for certain titty games.

did they? i mean, i can physically move the files onto a usb, and to anywhere, and it uses a pretty standard file system type. but as far as i can tell, you can just put it on a PC as an unreachable file that you have no way of accessing or using.

What is worse is they designed the whole thing this way to prevent save hacking and crw exploits via saves, same reason they removed most basic quality of life shit like a web browser, video and mp3 player and such. Though its completly retarded since they left a painfully easy hardware exploit anyways that cannot be easily patched out. I haven't looked much into PS4, except to know that game pirating and game modding is possible. Save backup/restore might be if you can't do it officially, I've not bothered to check. 5.05 is latest hackable and that also limits you from playing games released after. DoAX3 might have nude mods, it has a couple on Vita.
