A Slav Fallout clone made by ruskies, down to the character building and aesthetic, except instead of retrofuturistic 60's America it takes place in retrofuturistic 60's Soviet Russia. If you've ever played Fallout Online, then you should be familiar with the unhealthy obsession Russians have with Fallout.
>How Slavic is it?
The English localization is done in-house, which means it's chock full of punctuation, spelling, and grammar errors. Though it's still more than serviceable. There's a zillion references to literature and movies only Russians will recognize, and it's got that sense of depression and disdain against sanity inherent to most Slavic works.
>how's the gameplay
Very similar to classic Fallout, from S.P.E.C.I.A.L. character-building and skills and perk-based progression. to combat, though combat is a bit more involving than using VATS to shoot everyone's eyes out in ATOM. Though the combat and encounters themselves do need some tuning. The world design is pretty free-form and you're not railroaded to go anywhere. Quests have multiple outcomes and there's a lot of unique character roleplaying possibilities, and there's tons of side locations to explore for loot.
I'm 20 hours in and the ending isn't in sight yet. It's a janky 7/10 game, though if you liked Fallout 1 and 2 you should probably like this too

The game also doesn't combine excessive floor items into a loot bag like many CRPG does. This means I have lost my knuckle duster more than once because it's literally buried in corpses. Keep spares.
>Once you start a quest, killing the quest giver doesn't automatically fail the quest I started the village election quest and killed the bandit camp leader for proposing we use DEMOCRACY of all things to take over a village's leadership. This was simply unacceptable for Bazily the bullet proof karate master. The entire bandit camp was promptly high kicked to death because I lost my knuckle duster due to the previous jank. I then went to a different town where the corrupt official who's supposed to rig the election with me was still there and together we went to ensure the village gets a proper transition of power to their new leader. All this while, no one comments on the fact that the bandits have been wiped out, as if news actually travels slow without the internet being around. The two bandits the leader seconded me for security and intimidation purposes were even in the village during election time as my bodyguards. After the election I went back and wiped out the bandit remnants who modified the camp into a more fortified position. Sometimes the jank causes realism, albeit I have no idea if the dev intended this.

I've been playing it for a couple of hours and it's pretty ok. Really does remind me of OG Fallout, but the writing leaves more to be desired. I've switched to Russian after a few glaring grammatical errors and word salads; everybody talks the same way with very few exceptions so far. Crafting lets you experiment with any materials you possess, so you can theoretically craft something by banging items together without knowing the recipe for it. I've yet to discover one.
It really does feel like Batman a survival game with hunger and constant radiation poisoning despite you not touching any designated nuking streets or canister, it's just something you have to deal with in this world. Combat is brutal even on the easiest difficulty (I'm no good at RPGs and I am in no mood to play hard vidya during holidays).
Looks pretty nice, can't even tell it's a Unity game.

I got few hours in too,If you want a really good gun go the moonshiners "Drunken Lair" and manage to kill them,I had one grenade(that I looted from traveling scavangers) and it took me 3 hours of save whoring to do this,There are 2 dudes with shoot guns that have rifle range but can do 30 damage on a good hit.If you get those and ammo you are pretty much set,Start combats from your rifle range,take one shot and move away so the melee has to chase you when you take shots

Another way to deal with gunners as a melee specialist is to go full juggernaut. They're forced to switch to melee once they run out of bullets. Combat is only brutal if you go in unprepared, and the game doesn't really railroad you into anything, least of all being prepared.
There are some oddities like enemies chucking 8ap dynamite every turn, (which means they get to pull it out of their packs for free), or certain encounters showing up before there is any possibility to be prepared (rng slave hunters), but beyond that it's mostly people being bad at games.

You can buy .30 pistol ammo in Otradnoye from the beginning, and very quickly craft a revolver that costs 2 AP to fire.
And pick up the perk that reduces the cost of firing pistols by 1, at level 3.
Unfortunately, the other high end pistols lose their AP efficiency without meaningfully picking up in damage, with the Deagle requiring a ridiculous 6 AP per shot. Measured against even a low-end assault rifle like the M16, which can take longer range potshots for 4 and pop heads off for 5, with perks making the bursts much more accurate, or any scoped rifle scoring 50% more criticals and doubling damage on them.
Seems like the sniper and assault rifles got balanced and then got perks to make them great, while the pistols got shitty and need the perks to make them balanced.
Also, pick up Hexogen before you go to the carnival.
And read everything he says in Robert DeNiro's voice.

I tried it and unfortunately it sucks. It completely lacks any sort of polish, copied the worst possible aspect of the early fallout games (the traveling system/repetitive random encounters) and has some sort of perk system reminiscent of some sort of nu-fallout title. The pop culture and /pol/ references are a little too on the nose (no pun intended), it breaks the immersion. From the beginning I really wanted to like the game, but its a complete mess.

I'd recommend looking up and copying a build from the internet based on whatever playstyle you like. Then once you're more familiar with the game you can be more creative. I had the same problem, my first characters just struggled all the time and weren't particularly good at anything. It's definitely best to specialize. Unarmed + psi is a pretty powerful combat build that's fun to play and with some interesting abilities.
