>getting those sick frags with a trackball

Anyone else use a trackball for gaming? Just got an MX Ergo Plus and I've been really enjoying it. Also general PC gaming peripherals thread I guess.

You're a giant faggot but I do agree, trackballs are better.

It's like everyone on the internet is completely straight forward and can't never say something a little jokingly.

Is there a trackball that is more vertical? i want my wrists to be not broken

Sorry, but you know what we're dealing with from cuckchan.

all i remember about trackballs is going to compusa or circuit city with my dad and pulling the balls out of display mice and tossing them at my brother

Anyone have a reliable recommendation for a trackball mouse? One that has a modest, understated design ideally.

e86152  No.15909619

Do those types of mice not have lasers/balls on the bottom? Sounds like a good idea if you don't have a lot of desk space to work with or if the trackball is set to a different dpi than the regular tracker on the bottom.

>>15909619

the 'laser' is shooting at the ball with the most optimal 'surface', although having a hybrid mouse is actually not a bad idea, quick and simple movements are done with your thumb and large, precise movements should be done with your forearm

>gamer gear

REMINDER THAT (((GAMING GEAR))) IS A HUGE SCAM

<Keyboards

Any minimalistic mechanical keyboard is fine. Switch preferences are exaclty that, preference. You can even use membranes or scissor switches if you want. Koreans used to dominate using cheap membrane keyboards before eSports sponsorships came in.

<Monitors

Avoid G-sync or Free-sync if you're into performance more than fidelity. They add a small amount of input delay. TN Panels are harder to come by but they have less input delay than IPS or VA. If you're an FPS player 144hz is important, anything else is fine at 60FPS.

<MOUSE

Lower DPI the better, however due the the MUH DPI meme going around forever. Your only option is now a gamer mouse since all manufacturers followed suit into the higher DPI meme. Get whatever cheap gaming mouse with configurable DPI and a high polling rate then put that shit down to around 400DPI.

>>15909644

cheap but high-refresh rate lcd monitors are a victim of ghosting, make sure the 240 or 144hz meme monitor you're buying actually changes the color of the pixels fast enough.

keyboards, the best meme switch is not cherry mx, don't get memed into mx browns.

Just get a good build quality mouse with a good sensor. up polling rate. For fps figure out your preferred cm/360 (centimeter distance to look around 360 degrees and there's websites that can calculate this for you) for each game and do it across games for consistency. Lower sens is typically better but i myself wouldn't go below 20cm/360 develop muscle memory. mouse acceleration is actually optional since all that matters is that you always play the same way.

I did this and drastically improved in all FPS I play and in general and more accurate in all types of games. Don't fall for meme shit. It's all about good optical sensors and lots of practice with a consistent configuration.

Seconding all this and also

>mouse acceleration is actually optional since all that matters is that you always play the same way.

Theres pretty convincing evidence that mouse accel players have higher overall aim potential since they can set a much lower sens for consistency and still manage wide flicks thanks to the accel. The main problem is that not all games even support proper accel and using a 3rd party program can be a hassle.

I use a trackpad for cs sometimes.

I'm actually better with it than I am with a mouse.

This is some good advice. I usually spend the first minute of gameplay turning around 90 degrees like a retard and adjusting the sensitivity until it turns as much as I expect it to.

uhoh

I knew I was right but not THAT on the level.

Please speak to your losses to thumblords instead of checking those.

I need to get a new one. After my Microsoft Optical Trackball broke, I tried a few Logitech trackballs and they weren't nearly as good - and only lasted about 8~10 months before the "unifying receiver" would up and shit itself and refuse to work. So I've just been dicking around with standard mice since then and I'm just not really getting used to them despite everyone telling me they're better at precision. I don't necessarily doubt that they are, but it's just one of those things where using a trackball is so ingrained by this point that I'd probably be better off just using one than forcing myself to use a different peripheral.

That, and now that I have a semi-decent HTPC, a trackball would be much more convenient for couch play.
