Is been a while since I made one so here it is.

RPGs with a horribly long and slow intro, most JRPGs are big offenders, sometimes you just want to play and the game can't stop giving you a shit ton of exposition every 3 steps which also means it gives you control but not enough to allow you to do stuff on your own.

I can't stand tedious click-to-move controls.

play Alvora Tactics.

I wasn't a fan of the controls either, that and the way you enter combat which makes you think you actually have limited amount of steps during the whole game.

click to move > WSAD

63e1a2  No.15909489

the controls suck and you can't rebind or customize them

>hold button to interact

>press button to dash / gay shit

a vertical shooter takes inspiration from primarily horizontal shooters, vice-versa.

blow it out of your ass, it's only bad if the pathfinding is actual garbage

Want to move to the other side of the map? Just click, and let the path finding do the job.

>Tedious

>Just click, and let the path finding do the job.

That's right, just click, sit on your hands, and wait for the game to play itself.

>tedious

Yes, tedious. You click fucking constantly to do anything. This involves considerably more wrist motion than other methods of control, and is why this faggot >>15909468

is wrong. You know why keyboard shortcuts likes Ctrl+C exist in the first place? While mouses and points are precise means of interacting with graphical user interfaces, they're fucking tedious.

>using your wrist to move

>not using your forearm

Absolute caveman, there is nothing wrong with top-down point n' click computer games made for keyboard and mouse.

901a58  No.15909529

>>15909516

There is when WASD and Numpads exist. And actual top-down PC RPG developers had actually figured that out for several years until isometric mandatory-clickfest trash like Fallout became the standard.

63e1a2  No.15909543

>>15909529

You also do know you can just hold the mouse button to move? There's nothing wrong with point n' click, go play fallout tactics and complain about point n' click.

Subhuman, you're probably even a chink

62ff88  No.15909584

I'm fine with the intro if it doesn't suck a fat cock, but alas, it usually does.

What REALLY grinds my gears are how status effects work in EVERY fucking RPG. Poison only works on shitmobs that die in 2 hits, and bosses are immune to it. Repeat this for every single status effect.

a21cb5  No.15909600

>>15909584

Or in the end is more efficient to have higher DPS than try to use status effects, or how they scale differently for you, on a side note, when I played Ragnarok Online and later messed around with the eAthena engine and tested stuff I hated how bosses always had 1HK potential which meant you were almost never meant to go solo on them.

901a58  No.15909624

>>15909584

Poison is pretty handy against bosses in Tales of Symphonia, provided you can actually manage to poison something with the 1 attack that can cause it.

Best way to immediately walk into the nearest group of traps, assuming you don't walk into a wall. Sounds pretty tedious to me.

>want to run a mage build that can rain down wrath incarnate on all who stand in my way

<lol stupid fucker, every boss and enemy with a level higher than 2 has 90% resistance to all elemental and magical attacks

<forced to flail around a shitty knife that I never bothered to throw away from the start of the game

<the only things I'm able to kill are peasant-tier bandits and wolves

Really appreciate the work they put into making games not fun.

f4c7fb  No.15909638

I don't mind story heavy games. What I fucking hate is poor pacing with the story though. If I've been watching cutscenes or reading dialog for 20+ minutes I start to get pissed off. Spread the shit out better. 10 minutes max of story and then let me do something else. It gets especially annoying when I want to stop playing and then get stuck in 45 minutes of story shit. Write more compactly and respect my time.

a21cb5  No.15909641

>>15909630

Or you can only do decent damage with the most expensive spells in your arsenal, which means you can only cast them a few times and dedicate a valuable turn to use an ether or something like that, this also reminds me of Dark Souls 2 SotFS, I think every boss on the DLC is resistant to magic and other elements AND still resistant to physical just because.

dede46  No.15909672

>>15909641

I was mostly thinking of DSII when writing that but I've noticed it in a whole bunch of other games I play. It's particularly grating in ARPGs when all of the mages get these awesome looking move-sets involving meteors, earthquakes, super novas, flying around using telekinesis and other fantastical bullshit but they do squat in terms of damage. Biggest offender I can think of is Amalur because the mages have the best looking and most fluid attacks with the chakrams but all of the spells, aside from the necromancy one as it's a good meat bone-shield, are the equivalent of a fireworks show when facing stronger enemies. Most damage comes from the broken pure archer which crits, bleeds, poisons and explodes every enemy every shot at point blank.
