Similar file names don't really seem like that big of a deal if I'm being honest. It's like bitching that a UE3 game has ini files in the documents/MyGame folder and have that XGame, XEngine etc naming.

To be honest if ARK was actually optimized it would be a good game. The fact that you can't run the game above 40 fps is what kills this thing.

A surprisingly large amount of streamers are playing it just because their are no other games this holiday season.

false because they are essentially the same game just reskinned. Bethesdo drones honestly don't realize when they promote NV and Morrowind they are just proto-Grapeshot drones paving the way for this type of anti-consumer business practices.

Like an early Christmas present but it was filled with coal that you were suppose to get from last year. Developers thought they could fool gamers and got the blowback they deserved. I'm honestly surprised that developers could still think they can get away with this.

Do they honestly think they can pull the wool over people who can mod the game, search through the files to find hidden data on potential new content or re-used old content, test every game mechanic to master the game to perfection, and glitch the game to break it in hilarious ways and think nobody will notice an obvious dlc turned into a single player game, when they were clearly so lazy enough to leave the debug menu in the final product? I'm surprise they can still think they can get away with this when you've got gamers who can probably do a better job than them and have been here longer than the normalfags they try to fool. 2018 was a year where such hubris was dismantled and developers better learn from their mistakes in 2019 or it'll be a repeat of the same.

It's Ark survival with pirate mechanics. Probably some good fun to be had if it was actually playable in the starting locations. Redditors assmad they gpt b8'd by le'hype mmo

How do games like this get picked up by masses? I think I saw the store page earlier and it had 9,000 reviews. That's a lot for some random game that came out of nowhere, at least for me. I don't see how these games are even popular, its basically like Wurm right? The trailer just screams lies, there's no way you can have 45,000 in a world, this is just bait. Runescape does the best for numbers in a server and you know they don't top 2,000, and the graphics are much easier. All the lies of "look at this village/city with people in it. Wow you can interact with everyone and anything" is asking for trouble. I want a game to be like that but its simply not feasible, especially for a game using modern engines which probably aren't compatible for 50+ players.

It's not just a random game from nowhere. Ark had many players and was on steams best sellers list for a long time. It was on the top streamed list on twitch for quite a while too. They reskinned the game and resold it to the same people. The "mmo" tag helps because everyone wants a fun mmo to play with tons of people. "mmo" doesn't mean mmorpg anymore, it just means any fucking online multiplayer game.

Fun or not there's really only so much you can squeeze out of streaming a modern singleplayer game with a skill ceiling lower than Bilbo's doorway. Speedrunning is about all you can do at this point.
