I can dismantle your entire opinion by pointing out every bit of story you suggest is not part of the game. It's a loading screen at best and a movie you watch between gameplay at worst. You would be better off arguing something like Silent Hill 2 which merges game and story better than any other game in a long time. But that game is held together almost entirely by the ending cut scene(s) so we could argue that's flawed too. I'd almost be able to stomach FO3/4 if there had been a decent story attached to them instead of the retarded plothole-tacular dreck they barfed up, they'd still need a lot of shit fixing in the engine to be tolerable but when the main through-line of your story is shoddy it undermines everything you do which is why the only entertainment to be scraped from those titles is when you're off-plot doing your own thing. This lack of a passable narrative in their main titles has disaffected old players and probably feeds into the nu-gamer mentality of 'I wanna do my own shit' and explains 76s entire existence. Instead of trying to craft a plot, doing so very poorly and getting reamed for it they opted for no plot rather than hiring some decent writers.
