Supply and demand has been broken by DLC and whales. DLC has no manufacturing or shipping but costs as much as real physical products you could buy at a store. Devs can shit out an asset in an afternoon with a dozen man hours of work, and charge absurd costs for it that garner 99% profit if they sell a thousand of them. Then you have the whales with obsessive compulsive purchasing behavior and disposable income who buy all of the dlc just to have it, who are basically guaranteed to make those aforementioned 1000 sales.
