The point of Bloodborne was to sell PS4s, it's why it's called the Bloodbornebox. Once they have no money, they have no reason to do anything. What do they get from you playing their shit game? Unless it's multiplayer or they get to overcharge, companies don't really make free DLC anymore.

I think FromSoft doesn't really care about Bloodborne, possibly because it's locked to the console by some shifty agreement.

They took that oportunity to experiment a whole new batch of different ideas and made a neat game, but overall it's out of their hands because of Sony and they have no reason to invest on it more when they could instead focus on some other game that they can make multiplatform.

I mean, pretty much every Dark Souls got DLC of some form because they can port it to other consoles and PC too. Bloodborne, they'd likely be making DLC for a single console that didn't even sold that well.

It's really not entirely their fault, you can blame Sony and the retarded "muh exclusives!1!" mentality.

The best thing they could do for chalice dungeons is patch it so that you don't have to run Loran for defiled reagents in NG. They already patched it a while ago because people were tired of running hintertombs. I don't understand why pthumeru is the only required system for progression and yet running like 5 layers of Loran is also required to do pthumeru. They made basically everything but depth 5 useless and anything that's not pthumeru is a waste of time.

For me the best patch would be immediate access to all dungeons for subsequent profiles if you have defeated Queen Yharnam with one character. Just cut the bullshit because the only reason people will do below depth 5 dungeons is to get to depth 5, there's no reward worth keeping besides two sets and a weapon.

But on the subject of patching BB, I'd want the following, chiefly the first three:

- Attribute reallocation/appearance change. Make it NG+ or have it cost 99 Insight or 1 gorillion echoes, I just want to fix my characters, not change my build every 20m. Have the Doll do it so the only asset needed is a line in her dialogue choices.

- Have a free refill of bullets and vials after a successful co-op session.

- Interacting with a lantern respawns every enemy.

- Make Poison and Bleed viable.

- Set a PvP arena where the -30% HP penalty does not apply, they can use a area in Cainhurst for this maybe even litter it with Vileblood and Executioner corpses to make it look like a battle is taking place.

- Bring back the Indictment system from DaS1, have it be used by Executioners to hunt Vilebloods. Give the spread arms gesture Alfred does after killing Annalise as a reward.

- Add a area defense covenant to Byrgenwerth, it's a small area that can be bum-rushed in a couple of minutes so it's perfect for that. Alternatively, the guardians of Ebby-chan at the Upper Ward.

- Maybe add a Yahar'gul/Fauxsefka covenant where you kidnap other players though I don't know how to make that unique, just think the idea has potential.

They had potential to be good. The problem was there wasn't really enough variety in the set-peaces. Otherwise it was a cool idea that could have been vastly improved with DLC expanding the potential. Most of the sets where just recolors of the same four room layouts and then on a very rare occasion you got a cool set peace. All the bosses for the Chalice Dungeons where great. It could have worked if it wasn't so lackluster in its scope.

while I don't like grinding for these things, the game wasn't balanced around having unlimited items. I woudn't want them to change this on account of the unforeseen unintended consequence to balance it could have. It's already too easy to snowball in levels late game making the game too easy. Having a resource to dump EXP into helps cut back on that.

That's why I said make it extremely costly and not readily available. Most of my characters are in NG+3 (certainly all I want to "fix") and I already did my autistic optimization run for bloodgems, I think I earned it.

Tied to the previous, I hate having to re-do the dungeons from scratch when all I want is farm for gems in CFR Ihyll. Even if resources are allocated, the last dungeon will naturally have the best rewards. Immediate access to Isz would also be a huge boon to Arcane builds.

It's not the grinding that's the issue. On my end I always play solo but I like playing co-op, help folks with bosses and shit if not just to also get some practice of my own and I hate having to go back to the dream to refill. Like I said, only as a reward for a successful session, you die or the host dies and you'll have the same amount.

Alternatively, and now that I recall it, instead of free refills have a option to set a auto-refill for all consumables like in DaS3. Again, I just want to skip that trip to the Hunter's Dream (though it doesn't matter at this point, my PS+ is done and I don't think I'll ever go back given the way Sony's been acting).

Respecing is somewhat doable as the game is. It's basically just a reward for getting everything you'd need to instantly become whatever spec you want stored echoes for leveling, blood gems from chalice dungeons, spells, sigils, weapons, and weapon upgrade materials without ever leveling, and then loading a backup whenever you want to change to a different build.

No, they can never be good because Bloodborne has shit loot. Without some sort of randomized loot system, which gems do not provide, there is no sense of reward. History shows us that people are willing to deal with a lack of variety in level and enemy design if the chance for PHAT LOOT exists. Opening a chest in a Chalice Dungeon is just going to give you shit to make another Chalice Dungeon, the only things of note being the bone ash set and the Beast Claws. They could shit out a bunch of pallet and particle swap weapons (Star Hammer that is an arcane Boom Hammer, Cloudflash Sword that is a Bolt Moonlight Sword) in short order to liven things up and make some of the less used armors more desirable. Add pallet swap armors and shit stat armors with permanent effects (boots that give you a constant Hunter's Bone effect) and you have easily enough cool shit to keep people coming back for more.

I really don't know why the Chalice Dungeon concept didn't make it to DS3. It could've been the reward for doing the first DLC, the little girl paints you dungeons to run through as practice with you providing the paint (materials) that determines what kind of world is made. Just throwing pallet swap armors and weapons in there would have all the fashion souls people keeping the player count high for years.

To be honest, I'm not sure what sales on it were like (at least comparatively to Demon's Souls and various Dark Souls entries), but I'd think if it was a failure, they wouldn't have cleared a physical complete Game of the Year print for everywhere but NA (because oy vey, the DLC shekels). Also looks like it's gotten a Greatest Hits standard rerelease here anyhow. Then again though, this is an era where millions of sales can be a flop depending on how much money's been invested, so what do I know?
