So I don't know what or if Duet is doing anything this year, but I have transcribed the entire game in hopes of getting it voice acted. All the story dialogue and almost all of the side dialogue is typed out since, but I need to reformat portions of it to make it easier on the eyes. The only things that have been preventing me from completing it besides the burnout were school and a new job, but I should be available now that it is Christmas time. TNA has been open to helping me, but he told me the only potential voice actor he's found so far is for Alto, so any help we could get would be great. What I'm working on now is completely different than what I was doing. And that project you have to wait and see. Do not talk about it. Do not share details of your working projects. But I will share the details of the abandoned project before the Square Enix buyout since that's practically in public domain.
The idea is a sequel to Lufia/Estpolis Denki, specifically after the Legend Returns where I would use Dreamcast/Gamecube era 3D graphics. The game would be an overhead RPG, but you could enter a "wave sense" mode in first person to see energy waves to spot secrets. The game followed the template of Lufia II's step-by-step system for both overworld and combat. Overworld had mobs that spawn or despawn as random encounters which you could engage or avoid on your whim. Battle logic is turn based but follows what I call a "Timeline Stream Battle" system. The TSB system takes all inputs of the combat round and places them in a timeline based on a variety of factors: actor's speed, distance between targets for melee engagement, casting time, priority if engagements happen in identical time slots, etc. The thing about the TSB system is that you can pause the game mid-round at any time to re-command any of your party members at the expense of delaying their timeslot. If your fighter dies that round to a critical hit then you want your fighter to stop preparing attack up on thief to use a resurrection spell on fighter. This pushes the cleric's turn into overtime next round. This means cleric can only attack, defend, or use an item. However the risk pays off because fighter is back up to. Fighter uses his passive to automatically intercept the kobold chasing after the wizard.
Since all rounds have limited amount of time then actions are delayed longer than the round go into overtime. Overtime can be as long as a half turn or a full turn. Half-turn overtime limits actions to quick actions or half actions that round. Attack, Defend, and Item commands are example. Spells, Marksman and Martial Arts are full actions that cannot be done with overtime unless the context states otherwise. If a character has overtime and is delayed overtime again, then the character loses that round. However there are some moves that take more than one round to pull off. And some status buffs give you extra time like haste that gives you two full turns per round or quicken that adds a round and a half.
The forum is dead now but these ideas I'm sure are on the internet somewhere. I abandoned the concept because life got in the way and I have to start all over again anyway. Then Curse of the Sinistrals happened and raped the franchise. The game gave Neverland AIDS which killed Rune Factory too. And I just can't refine TSB while mourning for my waifu. So I worked on something different. I'll use TSB someday for an original project with original world building. A little busy with something else right now.
The moral of the story is sometimes working on fan games can give you pieces to start something new that's yours to keep. Most of the time they are failures and drama and not worth the cancer.
