What's some good portable adventure games? Any handheld or emulation on a handheld is fine.

Adventure games aren't just open world games, monster hunting or JRPGs, they have an actual quest. Secret of Mana, Pokemon and Dark Souls would be an adventure game. They have distinct areas with a real sense of advancing forward not just exploring the same style dungeon over and over. Enemies change, tactics change and you get access to new items/skills.

What game leaves you feeling like you just went on an epic quest equal to Lord of the Rings?

Doesn't have to be a world. Guild Wars would be an adventure and you only explore a single continent.

I played that game and it wasn't an adventure at all. The story is okay but it's just walking round the same area and using the touch screen as the plot falls into place. My example was Lord of the Rings because it's a perfect example. Big long adventure through different biomes with different central enemies.

Some parts of the game are rough, but it was still a pretty fun action RPG with an interesting setting. Plus it's a good paced game at 10-12 hours and doesn't wear out its welcome. Best song is Returned Memory.

Pokemon's mainline games are mediocre and don't feel like I move with purpose through the world at all. PMD felt far more like I went on an epic quest.

PMD is dungeon crawling not an adventure.

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald feel like a real adventure with lots of environmental variety. Some of the others not so much.

Point and click games are e better way to describe them. They were the walking sims of their time. Minimal gameplay for maximum dialog. Some are well done but most are forgotten the same way walking sims are. They're drivel.
