Lads, I want to make me a custom arcade stick that can work on PS3, PS4 and PC. What's the best encoder, stick and buttons I should get? Specially encoder, all I see are PC encoders, but I heard some encoders work for various systems at once.

edf130  No.15878860

There's a fucking QTDDTOT thread you idiot.

Buy some bootans

Get some wood

Get ready for fun

It's pretty hard to go wrong with any encoder, but you can find some nicer boards and buttons if you watch the prices

Thing is I want an encoder that's compatible with both PC and the PS3 so I can play JJBA: All Star Battle with it. Also heard some encoders need specific button brands or some shit. Gib tutorial pls.

Last time I checked the MC Cthulhu and PS360+ were the multi-console boards that everyone used, which probably shows how dated my knowledge is. The PS360+ at least had some firmware updates for compatibility, don't know anything about current consoles though. Sanwa/Seimitsu parts. Probably better off just buying whatever Hori pad works for the PS3/4 and spending half as much, most USB controllers work on PC.

So you think the best is to cannibalize an already existing controller?

cbb65e  No.15879330

>>15879238

I'm pretty sure any Directinput compatible board will work, PS3 has broad support for it. might need to sit your buttons to get them aligned, but it should just work fine

c41fd5  No.15879394

>>15879330

I'm testing what you just said with this shitty genesis USB controller. All I seen by now is that C is X and X is circle. How am I meant to find out the rest? Fucking around in the practice mode?

b3a544  No.15879409

>>15879297

That wouldn't give the sort of compatibility OP wants. A quick search reveals that the Qanba Drone does.

Why do you need the stick? The best fighter game player in the WORLD uses a controller. Do you think you are better than him by so much that you need a stick?

ba245f  No.15879467

Buy a hori fighting commander pad, open it up and use its pcb.

Get any shitty arcade stick and solder the board on its buttons.

c41fd5  No.15880024

>>15879442

I have a hard time doing quarter circles, semi circles and all that jazz with the D-pad. Also it's hard to press specific combinations of buttons at the same time with just your thumb. Also your argument is fallacious as fuck.

c41fd5  No.15880033

>>15879467

Why? There are way cheaper and good encoders for $20 or less.

71a9f5  No.15886355

either buy an arcade stick and mod it or build your own

>diy route & evo legal (you can't use any pcb other than brooks or modded official sticks, must be a conspiracy i tell you)

pcb: brooks ps3 ps4 fighting board

stick: sanwa or seimetsu joystick, (you may want to look into korean sticks, if you want a more american kind of style)

buttons: sanwa or seimetsu pushbuttons, can't go wrong with either

case: make it out of wood or buy one

old info but still useful guideline for making your own stick

http://www.slagcoin.com

hayabusa buttons aren't that good but they're silent when you're not mashing them or being a retard

arcade sticks are very comfortable.

908789  No.15886989

Look up it's dimensions online and 3D print it/cut it from a sheet of plastic or steel.

Don't really have any tools, where would I 3D print a thing like that?

I checked and I actually have an LS-33, but it would be useful to know for the future.

Any 3D printer I guess. Just get a model that fits your criteria and shit.

R-right, I'm just gonna order the $3 washer.

How do people generally mount PCBs in existing sticks? Everyone on Shortbusyuken used Photobucket or Imageshack so most of their guides just have a bunch of broken images.

I think theres a thread for custom/buying sticks in >>>/fighters/. Its probably dead, but there still should be useful information.

I used a broken ps4 controller PCB for mine. the issue with the controller was a broken option button, the button didn't click anymore. so I fixed it by soldering wires to the pads. works on PS4, PS3 and PC and the cool thing is that it also work wirelessly and I can use the headphones on the ps4 controller

I followed this guide, pretty useful

https://forums.shoryuken.com/t/dual-shock-4-padhack-thread-aka-you-should-padhack-the-hfc4-pad-instead/166331

if you want to try this out, be careful with the pads, they rip pretty easily. I ripped the Up pad on the PCB, thankfully I managed to resolder it by scrapping some of the solder mask.

Here's a pic of the result of my messy experiment. A bit ugly, but it work great. I was scared that my solder join would break, hence the literal ton of hot glue

i ride with a bicycle all the time, which arcade stick is good for portability?

looking at the hori mini right now but if anyone has a better option in their mind feel free to shoot.

Get a Brook Universal Fighting Boards for your PCB. Shit works on Xbone, Xbox circle, PS Quadruple, PS Triple, your very on Personal Computer and the Wii U.

For buttons, Sanwa and Seimitsu have a variety of buttons that might tickle your fancy. They're the most popular for a good reason. If you're feeling brave, you can give the Hori Kuro buttons a try. They're a bit tougher than the other two, but they're arcade standard nonetheless. If you buy a modern Hori stick, you'll be giving them a try whether you want to or not. Do not fall for the American buttons meme.

For the lever (or stick) you can't go wrong with the aforementioned manufacturers. Depending on your preference, you might want to go for a different style of stick levers and different gates.

For stick levers you've got the following:

>Ball top

<The traditional stick top. Nice and spherical at the top. By far the most common type of lever type out there.

>Baton top

<Popular with players in certain regions, it's a bigger chunkier lever. Also found predominantly on Korean sticks.

For gates you have the following.

>Square gate.

<It's a square. Your stick will smoothly slot into the four corners. The most popular kind.

>Octagonal gate.

<You can now slot your stick into 8 possible areas as opposed to 4.

>Circle gate.

No corners to get stuck on here. Feel the freedom of an analogue stick while having digital micro switches register your inputs.

>Diamond gate.

<It's the square gate but it's been rotated 45 degrees. Not recommended, but it's there I guess…

Pick the one that sounds the nicest.

Also I mentioned Korean sticks earlier so I guess I should explain them. They're much like regular sticks, but they reset to a neutral much faster than the traditional arcade sticks thanks to them using rubber contact pads. They're also heavier and they might need a bit more elbow grease to move them into the corners, but that's the trade-off for faster neutral return time. There is an old guide to sticks I have, but it's a bit too big for this site. I'll see if I can make another that's smaller and accounts for more modern sticks.

These two posts have basically everything I would say. Personally I would recommend buying the two brook boards (the multiplatform board for modern stuff and the "retro board" for a nice all in one stick assuming you know basic soldering) there should be some guides online for setting up a stick with both of those with a switch (a literal one not the Nintendo). Good luck nigger.
