I played on his server for quite some time and was able to be top in a couple skills. The curve was not a bad idea but the overall skill gain still felt a little high. I poop socked the fuck out of my skills though tbh. The point of the curve was so that if your town loses the dedicated miner, someone could do some mining on the side and get to a decent enough skill in a reasonable amount of time without the town collapsing due to 1ql iron.

You can even write fucking scripts and auto walk with pathfinding in caves
And let me tell you, I've managed to break servers with that shit, there is a bug in my code (and the server) that locks the character in place and anyone who sees the fucking character will lag the fuck out with insane memory leaks until the client crashes. The server will not automatically kick characters with this bug as they are in a 'logging into the world' limbo, neither online nor offline. I think you only need to attempt to switch to an already logged character twice to execute the bug

Getting to grips with easymode in the town was a learning experience but the outside world was at once alien, hostile, mysterious yet familiar. There was a constant foreboding feel, it was pretty quiet but being weak as a kitten and loaded up with 'valuables' is tense even if no-one in pursuit, knowing that dying likely means running back for your body in your pants makes one a bit paranoid.

Yes he made some neat mods in the past. The problem I encountered with that mod in particular was when I would get 99/100ql items in the bulk bin, since the mod also sorts stuff in individual ql when you put 90+ql items in. If I had let's say 20 ore of 100ql and then I mined a single 99ql ore, it would merge the 99ql with the entire 100ql and create a single 21 stack of 99ql. I brought it up to him multiple times and was ignored every single time.
IIRC he abandoned everything after a big drama shitfest on sindusk's latest server. Revenant has two maps one pve and one pvp. Neko and Sin were in an alliance on the pve map but Sin joined a different alliance on the pvp map. One day neko was trying to claim one of the arena depos which can drop lots of moonmetals and other goodies like bones and shit. Sin and his pvp alliance ganged up on him causing neko to rage quit. He later rejoined under a different name trying to hide his shame like a faggot.

The problem with an underground port is that you need a lot of shit to make it work
First you need a face with enough steepness and going straight (or close) into water, not be too far from the village and outside of the wall. If your village height is near the height of the water you're gonna have parts or boats like masts sticking out of the ground. On top of that the NW corner has to be on the top edge meaning your port entrance must face south or east.
Once you found an appropriate face you need to terraform it so one of the squares lower edge is at least 21-30 below water. And expand that square's top edge so it doesn't look like ass. Now to terraform that you need high skill because of the steepness and a dredge. Only then can you open a tunnel, do it before and you wont be able to terraform.
Doesn't sound too bad but now consider that this must be done BEFORE opening a mine inside the village. If you open a mine and try to reach the water from inside the mine, you wont be able to terraform it and so boats wont be able to get in. If you open a mine and a port you wont be able to merge the 2 ever (you can merge 2 shafts inside the same mine but not 2 mines).
You need to have everyone on the same page and not open a mine anywhere near the village at the start.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, the boats are supposed to go through the entrance you make outside the village.
The problem isn't the inside of the mine, it's the edges of the boat entrance. If you do it first no problem you adjust the edges to accomodate boats and then open the entrance.
If you try to carve an entrance for boats from your existing mine it's gonna path to the closest above water edge when you break that last block. And you wont be able to adjust it then.
Maybe there is a limit to how far the thing can pathfind but in the few tests I did that's what happened.
If you meant: go to water level inside the mine, then tunnel outward and on the last block tunnel downward - I haven't tried that.

One of the many lessons you'll learn as a wurm player is that you can't trust the thread for shit. Wurm is a very social game- it's all about specialization and teamwork afterall, and when you play with /v/ you're finally around a bunch of other fags that you don't need to censor yourself around, so people are always talking to each other in game about whatevers happening. Even if you need to talk to someone who isn't online at the same time as you, most of us would just tell the others to pass along a message when they came on rather than use the thread. The thread is mostly for admin messages, posting screencaps, bragging, and bitching; it presents a very different view of things. An example from my first serb, Spurda: at one point our mayor, Nok, had a meltdown and set the town to disband while raging at everyone. The thread went wild about it, but the whole affair really only lasted an hour until everything was back to normal; if you hadn't been there you would have logged on expecting everything in shambles, only to find everyone making jokes and telling you to get down to the inn because cookfag was on and made fresh GOULASH.
