-To qualify as a Vidya Character (if the character did not originate in a video game) the nomination has to be have been in more than 5 games either as a major role or as the main character. (i.e. Spiderman can be considered Vidya because of how many spiderman games there are)

- PEPSIMAN IS TO BE CONSIDERED A VIDYA He originated through comic and commerical but he is only known through his video game

- If a character has been participated in 3 Mania's in the past, there must be at least 2 manias since their last entrance. This only applies to Season 2, we're starting fresh

Things to have in your Nomination if you want the best possible experience

- A brief summary or a link to what you feel sums of the character nicely

- A link to a character Theme

Regarding VN character's

If it's a choose your own adventure book. (i.e. Hakuoki/saya no uta/Amensia)

it's a novel and thus not video game.

If it is a VN that has a game aspect (ie Phoenix Wright/Professor Layton/Danganronpa/999)

It is video games

If the VN in question has games about it (i.e. Katawa shoujo(katawa crash, symphony of the night kenji game)

Even if that were your cover, not to kill the magic, but it is full of holes, and if any anon picks up the booking mods that come with the mod suite, plays with them for more than five minutes, you will understand what is being done to a) stall matches b) decide winners. Seriously, 2.9's do not occur except under a few specific circumstances, and nothing but CAWs with Guts as their special skill should ever hold off on tapping out at 0 spirit. Use the More Match Options -> Testing Options -> Health Display to see how things go. This will kill the mystery but then go to the booking mod, start a new match, and then pick a winner. Barring certain exploits, the winner will be unpinnable (2.9's) and won't tap out. Until cursor chan shows up like every time and bam, someone loses right then and there after as the boxes are changed. You got really sloppy this time dude.

The matches seem fair to me. I've tested the last month or so worth of fighters I've nom'd and made in a myriad of fights against eachother and other fighters from previous 8chanmanias. The matches are just as much of a tossup as they are in 8chanmania matches. The only differences are length of the fight and 2.9 occurrences are only a bit higher. If he wanted to rig anything he would certainly rig in favor of manageable lore, instead of seemingly random wins/losses.

Manias used to take less than 7 hours. I've provided the methods to test the differences yourself at this point. Fighters lasting so long in the red isn't possible without specific kinds of interference and we see exactly what these mods causing occurring. Why? He can tell us himself. But "easy lore" isn't really his concern based on how things are managed at this point. A side effect of how Barmian Stamp is patched into a fair pin. The gist of it is that kickouts are effectively instantly acknowledged by the ref, so the zone for 2.9s is extended. The alternatives are to ban it or allow a pin that gets 3 counts from what would have been a 2.9 for any other pin, allowing it to completely ignore spirit.

this is not the way to deal with barmian stomp

Folks can substitute hip drop in either way, and people are not using the other "abusive" pins either right now. I'm far more in favor of just changing/banning stomp (like I said, hip drop is almost the exact same thing but without the spirit-ignoring bug.) a bug that affects one move severely (to the point bamiyan with exclusively the booking mod alone can beat a 2.9) should affect that move, not the entire match flow. I think I sound too punchy, sorry if this comes off dickish in particular, but I think this is a backwards way of solving it considering the adverse affects it has had. that said, this does not do things like cause Walkouts, which is how Beavis worked iirc, and we have seen that used. We have also seen matches that heavily suggest a jobber toggle considering the Heavy-damage behavior out of the gate and 2.9's in under 2 minutes with fighters that do not have Finisher skills selected.

Nobody here is accusing you of anything to hurt you, maniaman. We're all just here to have a good time and we want the mania to be the best it can be.

I personally don't think you rig the matches, but I do think that you can always do better or make things feel more organic. Even if you don't change anything right away, more communication and transparency would at least help us understand why the Mania is the way it is and help us shape it in a positive way as an audience and fighter builders.

TL;DR: Just be more open with how you've changed the game and be willing to open yourself up to criticism. Even if it's just balancing changes or pacing interference, we all place a lot of trust in you to create a fair, fun experience and want it to be as fun as possible.

The difference is that as we have a ton of makers there's a big gap in methodology, testing, intent that the logic for balancing becomes "mod it out" before "consult dudes and get the creators solving their own problems." This shouldn't fundamentally change the mania, and if it does, then that indicates that it was fundamentally fixed beforehand, for OR against TNA, and/OR creators

x4 evasion. most opponents quit when they get frustrated that they can't hit Citizen Snips. other wise, their teams get killed off one by one when snibs is at full power

normally, you could still kill a pokemon with a lucky critical hit, since crits ignore defense stats, but snibs comes with an ability that makes him immune to crits. Once he gets just a few of the right powerups, he can't possibly be killed, but most people just max him out anyway before proceeding to get a kill streak of 6.

To add to this, I used to think that TNA would rig a few fights. That is until my fighters actually started performing well and I realized that I just had the world's shittiest luck regarding crits for a while. I decided to stop making 2-move cheese spam wonders and focus on making cool or weird movesets. It's easy to think that you're getting rigged against when you have the following present:

>the context of pro wrestling, which is famous for being rigged

>a game with a lot of inscrutable mechanics and mods that can change stuff mid-match

>bad luck (which can beat anything through just grapple-win RNG, not counting AI RNG or crit factors) and negative thinking leading to confirmation bias

Consider that TNA's lore has been fucked several times by anticlimactic wins. If he really was rigging, then this would be a very infrequent occurrence. I can only surmise that he really doesn't rig mid-match and only goes as far as to nerf wrestlers that are pure cheese, like Nidorina in the last season finals or Alto in this mania. It might be possible to limit the stamp patch kickout change to just stamp if i can check the move in use from where it does its thing. It would make it weaker than other pins, essentially a soft ban, but it is a ban that does not need active enforcement.

The current implementation is fair to all pins and worked well enough at first glance. A lot of the mods (custom entrances, pyro & other SFX, asymmetric limbs, tournament managers, mid-match mat swap, etc.) are all coming from the same limited development time.

Sure:

'No Size Modifiers': all damage modifiers from relative size and breathing modifiers from size set to x1.

'Barmian Stamp Fix' was already covered but i can explain in more detail if anyone cares.

'MMA/ENT Move Balancing': Kneeing people in the head while they are down is broken strong normally, so nerfed. MMA-grapple submissions capped to 3 hp/sp otherwise unchanged. ENT submissions had a point shaved from SP damage, still strong but not as overwhelming. Overall goal of reducing 'you need to know about this or you will lose to it a lot' stuff in the game without outright gutting anything.

'No Damage Carryover in Tournaments': pretty obvious, every match starts fresh. Normally you carry over damage, then heal ~60% of each bar.

'Balance Reversals': Upgrades size female to use size small reversal tables. Small size being better at nimble reversals and big sizes at power reversals is flavorful and intuitive enough to leave in. But you could do

'Medium Reversals': and make everyone use the medium table.

'Giant Rework': Some changes to Giant style to change it from 'no wrestling allowed' to a Power variant. The overall reversal rates are borrowed from power style, power & arm moves get a better affinity than vanilla Giant, immovability is done as a high irish whip reverse rate and it now reacts to bleed the same as Grappler or Vicious*.

'Leaping Luchadores': extended jump range for Luchador style. Not sure if CPU actually knows to use it.

'Back/Aval. Active Counter Drop': A chance to ignore the input for the active counter for back grapples and avalanche moves. The selected option is up to 60%, of which 35% is health, 20% is breathing and 45% is spirit. Means that softening up the opponent makes those moves more reliable.

'Reduced/Increased Damage': uses the same table as 'No Size Modifiers' but set to .9, .8, 1.1, etc. instead. Accounts for Hardbody so the threshold stays the same.

No, just a damage multiplier from a table, +-4% (bigger deals more and takes less) per category of difference. Just 2 categories is an uphill battle

If only it was universal, that could have been solved really early with a different points total or other rules. But it actually gets the reversal rates from using special rate tables for certain counter groups. For example you could do Drop Toe Hold freely but Leg Spin is reversed consistently. Likewise most DDTs are fine but ones that hook the arms are grouped with suplexes and get blanked by vanilla Giant/Giant. The initial balancing mod for giants tackled this be reducing the overall reversal modifier but as a result left them horrible open to a lot of moves, hence the more detailed rework. In theory, any style could be redone into something very different, but the goal was to keep existing giants usable with the rework.

You have to support it to some degree to get full mileage and even then it will still fall to a Finisher skill used-as-intended. But it will stonewall opponents that are not equipped to overcome it whereas otherwise they might always get lucky. It would be possible to change what skills it combines so it no longer provides both Guts and Hardbody.

Limb Damage Conversion: normally when you deal damage to any empty health bar you deal bonus spirit damage based off the health damage you dealt. So a suplex or a lariat to a broken neck would do extra spirit damage. However just emptying out the base health bar is enough to get you that damage conversion, so limb work gets no extra rewards. The option makes limb damage to a busted limb deal bonus spirit damage based off the limb damage dealt. Bit of a prototype option that likely needs testing and fine-tuning before being fully fair and balanced.

'Restholds': the base option is the same 'non-finisher/signature holds cannot submit' that you could also get from the zilla suite. The implementation is different* and works as-is in 2.0. The sub-options for it add two other conditions for allowing a tap out: "attacker has Submission Critical" and "the move is dealing damage to a busted limb".

In Guard position, there are both Hold Neck Lock (2hp, 3sp) and Reverse Hanging Punches (4hp, 6sp). With the mod you would have a roughly even field of 2-3, 3-2, 3-3 submissions. There are no auto-counters in MMA positions, so both the risks and the rewards were toned down the same. Single-hit moves are unchanged, as there isn't as big a relative power gap as there was between submissions and i did not want to shuffle them around on just my own judgement.

Outside of the MMA states, only the standout submissions got toned down:

Back Roll Cross Armbreaker (from 4hp 3sp to 3hp 2sp)

Chair (from 5sp 3bp to 1hp, 3sp, 2bp)

Nightmare (from 1hp 4sp 2bp to 4sp 2bp)

Lip Lock (from 1hp 4sp 3bp to 1hp 3sp 5bp)

Mandible Claw (from 1hp 4sp 3bp to 1hp 3sp 3bp)

Testicular Claw (from 3hp 4sp 1bp to 2hp 3sp 1bp)

Additionally, Leg Tackles reduced to 6hp 4sp for standing & front grapple and 7hp 5sp for running, to bring them more in line with other state change moves (leg tackle is 7hp 10sp & 9hp 12sp in vanilla, for comparison solid hp moves in small are 10hp 1sp)

Tights Piledriver down to 12sp from 15sp. Still

better than its peers by x1.2 to x2 depending on move, but closer to where the lesser hp damage and niche stat add up to a fair trade.

Kagi Fusha to 30hp from 35hp. Since it also does 10sp, being the best or near-best at both was a bit questionable. It is the kind of flippy flashy move that should be used because it is flippy & flashy, not because it provides the best deal in all-around damage.

All 3 opponent down 'free damage' knees are currently at 1hp 1sp, no more strike crit, can't submit. Not very accurate from a simulator perspective but i don't think anybody will really miss them being good.

The above are open to change and other changes can be added (ex. Finisher Crit support to moves that should have it but don't), just make a good case for it.

Hardbody cares about LastDamage, the latest amount of health damage received. If just a damage modifier was applied it would make Hardbody better/worse since it changes how much/little is needed to cross the threshold. So what those options do is multiply damage by ex. 0.9 and when the move deals health damage they correct it by dividing the LastDamage value with the same modifier. So no matter what damage scale is in use, the LastDamage values are the same as under x1. Ukemi also uses LastDamage to determine how much you get. This uses the actual modified damage value as it is done during damage calculation while the correction happens at the end of that. This is fine since you should get ukemi in proportion to the damage you actually sold so it works the same with all scalings.

'Promoting' moves like that does give a damage boost to front grapples, x1.2 for one step and x1.5 for Small-to-Big. the way behavior seems to have changed in practice is that moves that would be 3 are 2.9s because of the larger window, particularly finishers that aren't amped up and don't push it over the age

The issue with MMA lacking auto-counters is that high-reward moves are not inherently balanced by high-risk counters. If your opponent is on Drop Toe Hold counter then Pin Down and the followups are practically free. Personally i do not see a big difference between working a 3-6 Giant Swing and finishing with whatever and just using a regular 3-6 hold start-to-finish, so it too is currently 3-3. Since part of the point is to make MMA not muck up the pacing for wrasslin' too much with excess spirit damage, i would rather give the move some gimmick (ex. solid leg & back damage or big breath damage to simulate nausea) than high spirit damage.

The back/avalanche counter chance reduction was requested on the now-gone firepro arena site. I figured it would be doable and so it was. With the option TNA has in use, the reversal chance is normal with all 3 bars full and can go as low as 40% with all 3 empty. The most extreme drop option goes down to just 5% left to reverse and the least goes down to 80%.

Adding new variations would be simple enough.

Like i said, worked well enough at first glance. It is getting fine-tuned in some way, either adding a standard x frames of delay to all pins so it all works roughly as normal or trying to limit it to just problem pins (Stamp, possibly Styles Clash if it is bugged too).

On limb work, the conversion option just helps drain spirit, you still need to empty that for the tap. My main concern with it is single-hit moves with big incidental limb damage getting an unneeded boost.

This is the equivalent of requiring a furfag wrastler in every fight because we have one furfag who watches the matches. If you remove these the whole fucking mania will be over in under an hour. Although removing "No Damage Carryover in Tournaments" sounds rather intriguing for that realistic feel. A fighter just got done fighting an epic battle to the death that went on for 20 minutes and then is able to do the same in the next fight is a tad odd. I can see why it's enabled, obviously, for fairness sake because one champ might have fought tougher opponents to get to the finale while the other guy fought pushovers. It would make more sense if there was some sort of bonus to fighting and beating tougher opponents vs weaklings.

Shouldn't Nightmare keep the HP damage and just do less spirit damage? Sometimes I use it on my wrestlers for the stomping version only, and I assume that version is the reason it does damage at all. Updated the mod (link in >>15851750 remains the place to get it) to fix Appeal Body Buster pin and double-dipping Leaping Cutter damage.

The buster pin patch is included in the stamp patch as the same tech worked for it. It was also a case of the kickout animation being too slow to release the pin state in time for 2.9. The internal name of the option changed so you need to enable it again when patching, simply replacing the mod with a new version will leave it off.

Leaping Cutter patch works by using a boolean array, one value per wrestler (to the normal max of 8). On the first damage frame (the grab) the boolean is toggled on and damage calculation is exited before it does anything. On the second (the impact) the boolean is toggled off and damage happens as normal. If the cutter was interrupted before the impact, then no damage is dealt and the boolean remains on. However all that means is that for the interrupted wrestler the damage of their next cutter is dealt on the grab and not on the impact. So even if it is disrupted, there will always be 1 instance of damage per fully completed Cutter, it will simply be at a different frame.

Present fighters with how they're relevant. If they're shit at punches, make them shit at punches. If they're a legendary/decent kicker, make it that way. In a sense, make them shine the way they're meant to shine and shit at stuff they're meant to be shit at. TNA does balancing anyway and will fuck your logic if your character does some actual, real bullshit like just spamming a couple of moves.

If it's characters that normally don't fight though, try to make their moveset a lot like their personality.

As far as workability goes, however, you can make just about anyone work fine with the proper CPU logic, especially since every fighter is around the same amount of edit points (180).

Already made spooky, used my Dan Lazarski as a base, changed the wrestling/return styles changed parameters and moveset to match said style, and slightly modified the CPU Logic.

The edits I make in CPU Logic are no brainer edits that should honestly be default. Things like there even being a % chance to pick up critical opponents instead of beat/submission/pin them is braindead stupid. Leaving the ring after someone instead of breathing while the opponent decides if they want to waste time breathing too or get back in the ring ASAP is rather retarded as well. Things like that, I also set it up so all they do early is use big attacks until the opponent is at large damage, then I have them either submission or pin the opponent. The whole "Pinemon" thing was kinda weird because he kept pinning all the time when they were at large damage even though I changed that logic when I made Philemon from Dan Lazarski. I had pin at 75% and submission at 25% for Dan Lazarski, I changed it to 30/70% for Philemon and it seems like he still pins just as much.

10% is about the most you should ever have pin at unless you're really trying to recreate the Pinemon phenomenon. Wrestlers are supposed to do leg drops and other pro wrestling things. "Large damage" is still quite far from "pinnable" unless you're using the Barmian Stamp in its most broken form.

That "pick opponent up" at critical % really should be "taunt and wait for your opponent to get up so that you can do your finisher", but that sadly isn't in the game.

They can't just leave the ring while their opponent is still there so you need to give her lifting moves like brainbusters that can throw the opponent out of the ring, a decent weapon use % to make her get a weapon and a low return count % to get the most out of it. High showmanship % also makes wrestlers able to irish whip their opponent out of the ring sometimes.

I think low discretion % also makes wrestlers drag opponents towards the ropes with the headlock, which helps with throwing them out but I'm not certain if that's what controls it or something else.

You can use moves like Face Cut to move the fight to the bottom corner or Knee Stamp (arm/leg) to move it to the upper corner, then toss the opponent out with a Front Suplex or similar move. You can now follow and go get your stick.

Most moves shuffle the fight towards the bottom corner so it is easier to force an exit with Face Cut, but for the same reason more modest use of Knee Stamps can also help keep things centered later in the match.

Update on Daiyousei. I did what >>15858695 this post said, and tweaked her appearance to make her look more animu-ish and less like a filipino cosplayer. As for balancing, I actually didn't have to do much, she was already 170 points and she only had a couple useless rest holds and unfitting moves, with some weird logic here and there. Whichever nip made this Daiyousei atleast knew how to make wrestlers.

You can sort of do it if you set you finisher to be a running move or done on a downed opponent, but then your finisher is a down/running move that your guy will do a lot if he's near the default AI and not very exciting. So then you've got to set it up with a priority so that it's reserved to only do at high damage, but that means you're missing out on variety through the rest of the match.

I'll probably experiment with it. Some down moves do really high damage and might work as a finisher, but the game relies on people playing fair and not just using moves like that all the time. It can be hard to set up in a way that's fair and satisfying.

I saw a number of items in the FPWW character creator numbered 2 without a number 1 anywhere. Are additional parts unlocked through gameplay or did I miss something?

What do Fight Style and Return Skill affect when you consider that I'm editing the moveset independent of those descriptions anyway? Are they even tied to the moveset at all? Are they AI patterns?

Why is grapple timing so ludicrously exacting?! I expect that shit out of online and Virtua Fighter tourneyfags, not a tutorial match. Shit's frustrating.

I miss the exact details, but Fight style is exaclty that about which your moveset and CPU logic is defined, while ReturnStyle if about counterattacking. Of course, while you can set something different, the more affined to Fight style the better (less breath demanding and such)

Honestly, and later you get upset when we complain about "balance"

You can't blame us on ignoring Power and Entertain stats and maximizing Punchs and Kicks when doing a Fighter, or spending a lot of points in stats in general when not using a Special Skill. The balance comes from the fact we renounce to things like Skills, breathing or regaining stamina.

At least consider it when you have something TOO extreme, like a Panther style with 5 stats on 10 and good breathing.
