I've been on an anime tear after breaking a 2-3 year hiatus. I watched OG Hellsing, rewatched Hellsing Ultimate, and rewatched '97 Berserk, finished it this morning. Good shit, its quite fascinating to see it in a a perspective that somehow understands everything, and I can appreciate Griffith's schemes and the foreshadowings more. The plans and brutality he came up with were sheer cunning.
Hellsing Ultimate was fucking great, even after so many times rewatching it. Its pure porn for the senses, I love almost every aspect of it. OG Hellsing gives off a very different vibe. I feel like it needed a lot more time to be improved, but it felt a lot more like a "traditional" anime type than Hellsing Ultimate. It felt like a teaser of sorts for Ultimate. They both have very solid OSTs, but they fulfill different purposes and "fit" better for their respective roles. People who say OG Hellsing's OST is better don't consider context, where Hellsing Ultimate's OSTs were much better suited for action, raw emotion, intensity which Hellsing Ultimate focused much more on than OG, where OG was more focused on a slower-paced atmosphere, progression, dialogue and characters in a serialized "TV" format, which made the OST much more easy listening. It wasn't made for short bursts of raw pulse-pounding emotion, but as chill background music to slowly rise and fall your emotions while you watched shit unfold.

I started and quit the roofing gig I got this week. I went in not knowing much about it, but it was too much on my plate at once. I was flat out broken after two days and had to call off. Then, thinking about how I had to keep that up I couldn't see myself meeting my own or the company's standards even though they said it was alright. I saw them take pity on me because I wasn't as competent at it and it made me feel like shit.
Then at the job agency I asked if they had anything else for me and they offered me production-line work. I told them I had some experience with it and I didn't enjoy the work, but since it was a different company and a different product I was willing to give it a shot. But they said they didn't want to risk it and basically gave up on me, closing my contract with them.
So yeah, I kinda shot myself it the foot, but I didn't expect them to just drop me like a fucking brick.

Probably better to at least make sure you're getting a good grade first, at least if you're paying money for the opportunity to do so. Friend of mine's taking law school, and for the last three semesters has really struggled to find a drive or interest in the material covered, simply because they're still in the earlier parts where it's mostly a lot of reading and jargon without getting into specialization. He's always struggled a bit with school in general, namely just getting stuff actually done (whereas I could do everything last minute and still do just fine).

I know. The PSP one is just more pleasant to listen to in my free time, though the PS1 version is obviously more faithful and fitting to the game and whatnot.
The PS1 version's OSTs is more closer to games like Diablo 1, which while they have excellent OSTs, its more like a horror game which I only rarely feel like listening to, and not because they're "pleasant" but because they're… well, well-put together and its fun to listen to that from time to time, but they're not the kind I like to feel good while listening to music.
I usually only listen for games I've played, though sometimes I will explore ones for games I haven't played yet such as Langrisser 2, which has such a good fucking OST that its fucking ridiculous, and Sakura Wars. The Yamaha YM6212 was a true fucking instrument that masters really knew how to take advantage of and make my ears orgasm. Though I worry sometimes that I spoil the OSTs when they would be played in context for the games themselves by doing this, so that's why I try to avoid doing that when I can.

There is something to be said for experiencing an OST blind (and of course some songs might be spoilers on their own, be it from the name or arrangement), but a hearing a few songs here and there can also help build interest in playing or watching something as well.

Trillion is kind of hard to keep playing. The first time I played and got a bad end it was pretty discouraging, I went on to play it again later and I pushed through to actually 100% the game. I won't lie I used a guide for optimal Overlord training, even despite that you have to savescum because of how cruel RNGesus is sometimes. It was all worth it though, seeing each Overlord's ending and then the true ending as well, and also finding out WHAT Trillion is and where it came from really. It took me 88 hours to get 100%. It's important to take breaks.

I won't ask as I want to find out for myself, but I'm glad it seemed to have lived up to the hype that was building up consistently. What I'm very worried and curious about is what will happen to Zeabolos after this whole ordeal, given his promise. Despite it sounding simple and cut-and-dried I sincerely doubt that that would be the case.

I generally try my hardest to avoid using guides unless I absolutely cannot proceed despite my best efforts, or if something is too autistic for me to try keeping track of and bothering with. The gifts are one of those things, though unfortunately I got an indirect spoiler from the gamefaqs gift guide about a character that would come up in the game as a fighter (presumably if necessary), and I'm fucking angry about it. It was smallish but it really annoys me when I get those and that's one of the reasons why I try to avoid using any 3rd party resources period.

I'm the same way, and the problem with Trillion really is that there is one, objectively stupidly aburdly powerful way to go about things that absolutely fucking makes everything borderline trivial and just about any other way of playing is so much less efficient it's not even worth bothering with except for just maybe trying it for the sake of trying it to see if you can eke out a victory against trillion. On my initial playthrough, I DID whittle Trillion down to its final form, but could not prevail ultimately. That was actually on my VIta playthrough of it, then when I tried doing NG+ the game kept crashing for me. It wasn't until a year or so later I picked it up on Steam from a humble bundle sale or something for about $2 and played through it again on PC, using that guide for overlord training so I could at least see each of their endings, but I wound up just going "fuck it" and 100%-ing the game instead.

When I tried to do it my first time, I saw my affection had just a tiny bit left, but I didn't realize that was affectioned gained upon being hit and it had already hit 0 before I gained that back. The music changed to the super-intense type and I basically shit my pants as I realized what had happened.
It made the music even more intense in my mind though, and that track was really good. Thankfully I realized I could just reload because that was fucking retarded and would've been quite a waste.

Shit, why do I have a sinking feeling that this will happen to me. I think its at 550-620 billion HP right now; I can't remember exactly. I thought I was making good progress, though this Dragon form is a bitch and it feels like the damage I'm dealing between overlords is inconsistent, despite stats being overall similar. Its sort of annoying. I'm almost tempted to restart entirely or at least try Mammon again and cream this fucker's first form down with ease, but your information about the endings sort of changes that. Plus, more significantly it feels like it would be a waste of that Overlord's life, going through that again, watching her death again, its meaning lessened after I've already been through it.

FC was simply the first chapter, everything gets perfectly realized in SC, don't worry about that. SC needs FC to truly shine and be understood, it would be like reading The Two Towers or worse, Return of the King without ever reading the Fellowship of the Ring, or reviewing them all as individual books instead of as a trilogy, which would be foolish for someone who actually understands LotR.
On their own the games wouldn't be nearly as good, but gone through and taken as a single story across two games its very close to perfection for a game. There's few games like that that all but require the other games to be played, even fewer among JRPGs which are usually self-contained stories with little references to the others at best, but the Trails series is different and succeeds for that reason, though the payoff is a bit more delayed and the game is more of a slow burn for it. If you've got the patience though, which it seems like you have, you'll absolutely love it.

Okay. Mobs are buggy as fuck. Some mobs don't tag right, looting quest items like the spider egg in the cave in Teldrassil just flat-out doesn't work 80% of the time, causing the egg to sit there unlooted and unable to be looted. Some other people did RFC on Horde and mobs were walking through the floor, untargetable, aggro is broken, charge is broken and randomly teleports you around, class quests broken, random quests broken.
What a shitshow. I can't believe I wasted time today on this shit. Went back to a Morrowind save to calm my rage.

Overall, Cold Steel 1 and 2 are a solid story that while slow to pick up, did not disappoint. I enjoyed the music, the beautiful country that is Erebonia, and even the most annoying characters (Millium) grew on me. Games wise:

While it was slow to build up, I enjoyed it. The school life segments were enjoyable and the more serious tones of events going on in the shadows was handled well. And then that ending happened and I couldn't believe it at first. But then it made more sense as you piece the events together.

What a fucking ride. My one gripe is the major event driving the plot was resolved to quickly. To keep this as spoiler free as possible, there was something in the game that reminded me of Suikoden and recruiting the 108 stars of destiny which gave me serious nostalgia vibes. I also really liked the opening music and the "postgame" is well detailed and quite enjoyable. The final mission hit me right in the feels too. I have to replay it for the Black Casebooks before I touch 3 when it makes it's way stateside.

True End is pretty specific. I'd rather not go into details until you've finished your first run though, because some things required to put you on the true ending route are kinda spoilery. During this first run of yours, just make DAMNED sure you defeat a certain enemy (and it'll be obvious what fight i'm talking about when you get there) when you have Ruche as your Overlord. Winning that fight is imperative to accessing the late-game.

I've never played Phantom Brave either, but Disgaea 1 and 2 are absolutely stellar. I'd say play the DS version of Disgaea 1 and then the PSP port of Disgaea 2. Disgaea 3 sort of sucks, but I've hear great things about Disgaea D2, 3, 4, and 5.

With out spoiling anything, make sure to play the Crossbell games before Cold Steel 2.
