I was looking through this guide instead: https://guide.sdsetup.com
The guide.sdsetup doesn't mention that early Switch firmware does not support exFat. However, the ReiNX guide seems to suggest to update your Switch the normal way, online:
>Please note, if you do decide to use exFAT, your Switch must download an update to utilize this, which means it must be on the latest firmware. As far as installing the update, all you have to do is insert an exFAT Micro SD Card into your Switch while it's on and it will prompt you to download an update. Easy stuff.
Which is fucking stupid. ChodujourNX updates your Switch without burning fuses thus enabling you to downgrade later. Not to mention that Niintendo could push another update at any time that kills Homebrew. The guide.sdsetup tells you to use ChodujourNX and explains the advantages/disadvantages to upgrading or downgrading firmware.
Another difference I noticed is the ReiNX guide has you download hbmenu.nro and a title used to replace the Nintendo Switch album with the homebrew menu while the guide.sdsetup sends you to https://www.sdsetup.com and has you select the "Kosmos Defaults" which, under General - Loaders, includes Homebrew Menu and Homebrew App Store so I assume either this does the same thing or Atmosphere does not need to replace the album with the Home Brew Menu. guide.sdsetup has you also include biskeydump payload which I assume is for dumping the NAND. guide.sdsetup also has you using Hekate instead of fusee-primary.
What are the benefits to using Atmosphere over ReiNX anyways?
