Bad example to be honest. You only need to do a few of your own story missions (couple pay out at least 100$) and get to level 10 to unlock it. The shotguns are bullshit cos you need to get to like evel 30 just to unlock the basic ones.

That does not make it alright. Paid in-game currency muddies the design of the game, where the grind will be specifically designed to nickle and dime you, not to provide entertainment. In other words, the grind length will be balanced against what Rockstar thinks is the best way to tempt you to spend real money in the store, and not against what would be an rational and enjoyable experience.
Point is devs/publishers have pushed this too far without checks. If game journalism wasn't so pozzed they would have called this out and nipped it in the bud a long time ago. There is no excuse for paid-in game currency of any kind in a paid game. In F2P, you can expect P2W garbage, but don't pull that shit in a paid game.
