Yu-Gi-Oh is a video game because the video games existed before the card game, so goes the argument.

Gatekeeping "what doth vidya" is fucking pointless because it sets weak-ass delineation inferior in every way to filtering out and arguing about what is good vidya or bad vidya.

There's nothing objective about it if you don't adhere to an actual set of rules, and no one does. The simplest and most coherent ones say neither "yu gi oh" or "poker" are vidya, but that Yu Gi Oh: Duelist of the Roses or World Series of Poker 2008 absolutely are.

Honestly, I feel like playing poker for real is too much for me. I don't want to take such risks when it comes to investing, if you can even call it that. Call me a pussy or a coward, I don't care. I'd rather play poker for fun with friends. I've done that quite a few times in the past, and even when not knowing how to play and losing all the time, I had a blast.

This reminds me of a book I read a long while ago that some dude who made some important contributions to VR wrote, because he had cancer and was about to die. He said that life was like a game of poker, you can't change the cards you're dealt, but you can do what you feel like doing with them. Maybe it's a common saying, I don't know, but that was the first time I ever heard of it. It really resonated with me.

It still does to this day. I'm thankful that the cards I've been dealt are decent. For now.

Last I know he's still playing poker. He asked me what I was doing and I answered in essence that I was working on robotics to build robot waifus and we haven't spoken since.

I've thought about becoming a professional poker player or card counting it's a real life cheat code.

The problem with online poker is you don't know if everybody else at the table is the same person or are colluding together against you. Thanks to some cryptography making its way into online gambling you can be sure that the game you're playing is fair at the dealer and casino level but that's it.

online sites that i've seen attempt to mitigate this with random matching, most will also let you play multiple games at once which lets you spend a bare minimum until you get a feel for a particular table.

poker bots still pull in a pretty decent amount of money just because of sheer numbers.

Yeah, I play on PokerStars UK Texas Holdem. I play sit and go's and tourneys. started on 0.50$ now I play on $3.50. Only play $1 tourneys though.

That's why you don't play at casino's me and one of my friends can manipulate cards fairly well. So we used to play back games at pubs or where ever they where held. We found out which pubs did not use a "magic card" its something you used to put a the bottom of the deck of cards to prevent someone from dealing from the bottom. We cheated a fair amont from the people we used to play with. We mainly targeted the piss heads that could not handle there drink. Of course we did not do it all the time only when it was suitable and we knew it would work.
