So with all torrent sites being honeypots and Google proactively censoring/obscuring search results, how do crack teams/pirates even get their shit out there? Still IRC like the old days?
8f39c1 No.15765491
>>15765483
Piracy survives BECAUSE of the things you said, not in spite of them. In a society where companies treat their customers with respect delivering quality products and/or at a very affordable price, there would be no need to obscure searches or crack down on freebies, because the freebie market would become a niche and/or just made of autists trying to stick it to the man for the sport of it.
As it is today, customers watch each other's back unless they're corporate whores.
7b6614 No.15765492
Every single non-casual way of sharing content.
Basically pirates are considerably more computer literate than consumer whores. There is a sense of pride and elitism, which is in many ways justified, associated with being a pirate.
fef46e No.15765505
It's obscuring piracy, sure, but it's nigh impossible to defeat piracy.
With the nature of the Internet, as long as you still have a bunch of autists with private P2P servers, piracy is still going to exist.
As >>15765491 says, the best way to defeat piracy for most folks is to be a consumer-friendly company.

Maybe I've just been misplaced in time or I've missed something, but I'm pretty sure TPB has been monitored for years and years now after the people behind it got arrested, and I thought this was common knowledge considering how there were news articles written about it when it happened. You don't get to keep up your site even after getting arrested for it in the first place unless you struck a deal with somebody.

The only time I EVER got smacked by my ISP was for downloading a Yugioh game without a VPN. It was a gigabyte so I figured I'd just pound it out in 20 minutes. Then I got a letter from Konami which I ignored. As long as you aren't downloading stuff from the greediest of companies, you really should be fine, but if you're paranoid then you should hop on a private tracker like a real pirate.
76618e No.15765664
Not a pirate here, but I hold my wallet EXTREMELY tight when it comes to buying games. I don't buy shit games at all, and for the obvious price gouging decent games, I wait for a big sale or the thing to drop low enough. For the really good devs, I support them wholeheartedly.
I used to be a moralfag about pirating, but I've seen too much shit from companies to feel bad for them anymore. I just look the other way now.
a7d5c5 No.15765696
>>15765664
Even then you can still pirate games to demo them. It's what I do. After pirating and playing I decide what the game is worth, "is this worth $40? $30? $20? $10?," and then just wait for the appropriate sale or price markdown to get. That way you don't get burned by purchases. This also excludes companies on boycott lists like EA, NIS, NISA, Ubisoft, etc.

It's not necessarily justifying anything saying you'll buy it if you like it. I don't like to play a pirated game for a lengthy period of time since it doesn't feel like I own it so if I do like it then I will buy it.

Piratebay is not what it used to. Kickass is gone, after that I used a site called torrentproject.se which got shut down, then went to a site called idope.se which got shut down, then I noticed there's a torrentproject2.se but the magnets are fucked and you need to unfuck the URL (which is easy: inspect element on the magnet link and run pic related on the console)

I get them on my VPS running Deluge all the time. Just delete/unseed the torrent, answer the hosting company email as "it's been sorted" and move on. Sucks because I have a policy of 20:1 seed ratio, but I usually still get there before the mail comes in. For some reason unpopular movies don't get those.
