Just to double check, since I've been meaning to hack my Vita myself (reading through the hacks site linked), does PSN spoofing still work so long as the setting is edited to sync with the PSN, or has sony caught onto it? Got a few things I was never able to transfer to mine years back (keeping mine at the OFW that was current then, and waiting for more updates on the hacking end) that would be nice to still get onto there if I can do so, but while sony is indeed shit, I'd rather not risk suddenly having shit I bought years back become inaccessible due to a potential ban. That's assuming you can even use the spoofing to connect to the store in the first place.

Also no I haven't given up on that chart, but as it needs other contributions for what I don't play, I need to believe that they will happen before I think it's worth fully commiting to on my end.

Thanks for making the thread famicom
Going through Steins;Gate 0. Already got Maho and Kagari's endings. I still haven't done Kurisu's 2 endings on the original I would not recommend this VN to anybody who hasn't played or watched the first series. Visual Novels are comfy on the handheld unlike on consoles. The main downside is how slow it is to install games from their Freeshop. Direct PC is faster but still needs work.
Maho's arc was okay but Kagari's was kind of a mess. AFTER showing a timeline where Shiima met Mommy everybody inexplicably holds the idiot ball with a wild goose chase to relearn what the audience and Kyouma already knew, what a waste of time. There better be a good explanation how a simple phone can use space magic after Future Gadget #8 was decommissioned.

No. The way to bypass game firmware checks is to either meet them, or if someone on 3.68 has dumped a compatibility pack for them, which can be installed through pkgj or NPS Browser. Those depend on the rePatch plugin, and speaking of which, that got update and should no longer break DLC. I just tested with Hyperdevotion Noire.

So even a 3.66 cart wouldn't be eligible to run? Is there a document with most/all games listed that includes the minimum firmware each requires? I'd swear I've seen one before but it probably hasn't been linked here in quite a while.

>>15764548
No. The executable is encrypted separately, and the keys change between firmwares. Compatibility packs are literally just the decrypted executable. Also the NPS database indicates this information and pkgj will warn you too if you try installing something too new.

What other contributions did you need or think you would need?
Any specific games that have been suggested, or are we talking entire genres?
Some genres are so threadbare on the Vita that you could probably just ask for individual opinions or why they would or wouldn't recommend on the games in question.
This old chart might also be a bit helpful as well.
I would also suggest posting progress of the entire chart thus far when you can and when it gets updated, as that tends to help with this kind of thing and keep it active.

Actually think I found what I was looking for; had to use another browser since the search engine my main uses wasn't pulling it up. Particular game I was thinking of turns out to be sub 3.65 anyhow. I wager that at the time it was released, 3.60 was the max CFWable OFW, thus at the time was ineligible.

Also when it actually has enough content I'll publish it to the hackpaste Git but it isn't ready for that yet. Similar to the hack guide, it'll make it editable independently of the thread. Can a mod edit the following into the OP? Probably under the bit about first-time buyers is best.

Excellent, I'll shorten the description. So roughly under 450/500 characters or 75 words then from what it seems like? It would be nice if it could be raised, but I'll try to stick to its constraints as best I can (while still maximizing what I can say of course since I'm a talkative motherfucker)
How's this:
A unique RPG combo princess-raising sim where you play as the Grand Overlord of the Underworld defending your home against a mysterious, brutal, unstoppable God with 1 Trillion HP; you do it by raising female Overlords under you through training sequences, actions, items from simple dungeons/purchase, stats/ability-adjusting, and gift-giving. Typical fare for an IF game with low-budget assets for 3D, but quality and passion put everywhere else, and oozing with charm. Tons of dialogue and dark tragic tones, be prepared.

Given there's no sourcing as to who made that image he posted, I'd be slightly leery as to the games listed also representing people here, unless someone can indeed sauce it to originating from a thread here. Though, if people do feel like backing up particular recommendations, it might be a go ahead to at least get something started for them. Though, the difference in allotted space for descriptions, ripping them as is might wind up with the tabs at your current sizes looking rather sparse, so maybe also have the people vouching for them elaborate a sentence or two further. Just a thought.
Might also be wise to, once you do start compiling what you have onto an actual background, to include the mention of that document with minimum firmware on there somewhere for increased utility. Though, maybe archive it if possible and use the archive link for brevity.

My recommendations but they're just that at this stage, I'm attempting for neutrality don't worry. Games can also be disabled without deleting their backing data so don't worry about the current Git stuff including Re;birth 2 and 3 info, if they're not desirable I can switch them off. Also I can make the tiles wider/taller but too verbose is kind of bad for image-based anyway. The shorter description almost fit. I trimmed it a little.

Considering how you'd have to screw with the layout further to fit an extra line, let alone icons, that might not be the best idea. Especially since there's the difference in cases where legit versions might not be playable with CFW, but pirated with a compatibility repack might be (kind of like I remember how, way back when, wasn't there something about tweaking particular dumped games back to their JP firmware requirements and having them playable on 3.60 if they were in range there?). I'm just saying that once you start getting stuff to lay out, save some header space before the start of the tabflow, and put a link there that people can search on their own. Or link to it from the gitgud as a resource for people to check and include a mention to go there for parameters like that.

That's fine and all anon, but you would also be a contributor to this chart as well, as you play vita games and are a regular participant in these threads. Feel free to give your own opinion and description of why you would feel a game deserves to be on a chart and see if anyone challenges you on it or agrees with you about it, and possibly have a discussion/debate with them about it. Relying entirely on other people to do work for something like this is honestly ridiculous, especially as the population of people visiting these threads seems to have thinned out a bit.
Conveniently enough, I do have some old recommendations from multiple anons when i asked for opinions about certain games earlier but those can't sustain such an effort especially since one would have to go on a wild goose chase for them. Stuff like that is made even more frustrating when anons give good information on certain games, and then also recommend others in the same post but barely provide anything on themwhich happens a lot more frequently than you think.
At any rate it would certainly help the chart production go quicker if you did that at least, the chart creator tends to have to do the lion's share of the work anyways, just don't do anything you don't feel you can argue in favor of, and ask people before you do and provide your own reasonings.
For example, I would concur with your recommendations for Muramasa, Odin Sphere, Danganronpa 1, and Dragon's Crown, though your reasons/descriptions for including them aren't listed and I'm curious to see if they'd differ from mine in any way (they likely won't but it can't hurt lel)

Term is "asset swap", and also good point. Also I haven't done anything with the chart headers or sectioning (digital games aren't even laid out right yet but that shouldn't block addition of such games to the DB) but that step is easy. This is the stitched layout at the moment.

>Vanillaware
I listed those because they went without saying, but I can't make a full case for them having only played a bit of each of the 3. Enough to see why they're recommended though.
>Danganronpa 1
This one I have played though. Obviously the general setting is 15 students somehow end up in a school totally shut off from the outside world, and there is the mysterious Monokuma telling them they have to live there forever, unless one of them commits murder and then doesn't get picked as such in the subsequent class trial. As a VN it's linear sadly, but the story generally is interesting, with some clever twists, and the characters are generally likeable if a bit archetypical. Music and art are top-notch, as is the overall style. While not quite as refined as in V3, the actual class trial gameplay functions OK too. I'd say pretty similar things for 2 except that the last chapter kind of lost me and it's where NISA started to fuck with it significantly. Not as bad as V3 or Ultra Despair Girls though and I believe 2 deserves to be on the list as well nevertheless. I already commented on V3 last thread and why I wouldn't include it.
It's so much easier ripping into bad games.

Nice, looking strong far. We just need to get it more populated which should be simple enough, there's at least half a dozen or more games I can pull descriptions from old recommendations/reviews by anons in previous vita threads.
>I listed those because they went without saying, but I can't make a full case for them having only played a bit of each of the 3. Enough to see why they're recommended though.
Fair enough, I can creat new ones or adjust the current writeups for them since the descriptions for them can be vastly improved in my opinion, and I did play through all of Odin Sphere on hard, and the main (not postgame) story for Dragon's Crown. I also completed the main story for Muramasa on hard (not the NG unlocked difficulty though), though I wasn't able to do the DLC so I can't speak to their quality, but other anons have vouched for its quality more than enough.
For Danganronpa I largely agree, minus the comparisons to 2 and V3 since I don't have the perspective to make those comparisons given I never played them. I also believe the characters are more than a bit archetypal, after all they're walking caricatures, but the satirical bent adds to the madness of it in a positive way in my opinion, not it succeeding in spite of it but that's my personal opinion anyways. Good assessment. You should feel free to add it in with your description if you haven't already.
Danganronpa made me feel pretty damn sad at the end of the dsy. They really nailed the strangeness of sadistic, cruelcomedy and how disturbing it can be and feel to the player character, especially as it wears them down over many hours and events, but that's my opinion.

By the way, submitting here is fine, but I also allow E-mail 8vitagen@cock.li and Git pull requests are fine too if anyone wants to do that. Also a thought occurred to me. >>15764873
I pulled the two Vanillaware ones from that other rec chart and yeah, thought they could be improved. Don't think too highly of my Re;birth ones either though. Improvements in all areas are welcome.
>Danganronpa
Attempted 1, will also do 2 if it's fine to add, and also, despite NISA's fuckery, 2 is worth a go if you liked the first. The worst thing about it is Monomi and the final chapter kind of sucked to me. As for the other two, V3 deserves the bad reputation. The soundtrack and visuals are still excellent (except for really bad video and voice bit-starving in dubbed versions, there's literally a "HQ voices" DLC for those) and the class trial gameplay changes are mostly great. However the translation is NISA at its worst, the characters are generally less likeable or downright annoying, and several story points were very controversial, like the ending. UDG can be summed up as "cute ideas, mediocre execution, irritating characters, NISA" so I don't know who thought having that but not 1 and 2 in >>15764604 would ever be accepted.

>Also a thought occurred to me. A >3.68 icon could be added if one for indicating PSTV compatibility is, and that could even distinguish between "yes / blacklisted / blacklisted and non-functional".
Possibly. If need be I can try to whip some up icons down the line. But at the same time, you have to question how much is too much information at once. I like the idea of having some basics present at a glance, but stuff like the sub-3.68 stuff and PSTV have a number of internal variables to account for as togglable nodes, as opposed to being able to, say, have urls to a database of sorts with that information already present.
Sub-3.68:
>Legit copies vs games that could be asset swapped and thus only work if pirated.
>Base game vs updates (assuming updates might look for higher system firmware to download; not sure if that's a factor, but that google doc does make not of updates)
>Possible differences in required firmware by region.
Admittedly haven't looked real far into PSTV stuff, but I take it you mean "yes / blacklisted / blacklisted and non-functional" as whitelisted/officially compatible, unofficially compatible, and not compatible at all?
This isn't to say it's not potentially doable, but one has to keep in mind both all the possible parameters that could be applied, as well as possibility for confusion on the reader end.

>>Possible differences in required firmware by region.
Should've occurred to me but it didn't. That's reason enough not to add that I believe. I think just telling people to check NPS in the opening header for the image will be good enough, and since there's no longer a balance, same deal with PSTV compatibility.
>>15765123
>whitelisted/officially compatible, unofficially compatible, and not compatible at all?
Yeah, because the unblacklisting hack makes all games loadable, but due to missing controls and features on PSTV they may not be completable. I won't care if it's some triviality in a game, but progress blockers would be the worst.

No need to worry about tertiary shit like icons for right now, I would more worry about focusing on getting as many descriptions as you can for the time being.
I think the other chart probably didn't allow VNs on it or something like that from what it looks like, but I don't know. The UDG one seems entirely focused on the "game" aspects of it.
Here's my description for Muramasa:
Muramasa is a game sometimes described as 2D cuhrayzee. You travel across a war-torn feudal Japan in 2 characters, a possessed princess and a rogue ninja, whose journeys overlap, slashing through swaths of enemies and bosses in fast-paced action as you seek power in Muramasa-forged demon blades and mastery of styles. In Rebirth it saw an excellent port and retranslation, along with quality DLC introducing new playable characters, additional story chapters, music and bosses.
Description for Odin Sphere Leifthraisir:
Another example of high-octane 2D action from Vanillaware, Odin Sphere is an ARPG with its storytelling done in a form akin to a theatre play. You follow the roles of 5 very different characters fighting in a world grounded in norse mythology, using legendary psypher weapons and abilities to fight their foes and change and fulfill ancient prophesy. Leifthraisir vastly improves and streamlines the parts of the original often considered clunky and adding additional content, while still offering the original mode for those who would like the experience.
Or if that's too long, a slightly shorter version:

Muramasa's was a hair too long but easily fixed (I'm a bit iffy on the "2D cuhrayzee" descriptor though) and yes I did need to use the shorter Odin Sphere one. Also added Crypt of the Necrodancer, and preliminary example of sectioning and digital-only.
At the moment the majority of games I listed as candidates are from hearsay so I'll probably go and actually play some Project Diva F. If I can figure it out at least, it's a Japanese copy.
Also in terms of actually playing stuff I did get the true ending in Re;birth 3 but I mostly post Neptunia stuff in its own thread.

>I'm a bit iffy on the "2D cuhrayzee" descriptor though
Fair enough. I didn't want all the chart descriptions to feel like it was just reading what effectively could just be back-of-the-box descriptions to people and felt like something I've seen as a phrase used to describe it was acceptable and helps to connect it more with people from around here, but I can see how it might cause some obvious problems, not least of which being dating or confusion. Plus the first sentence is a bit awkward anyways. Change it as you see fit; its tough for me to think of something attention-grabbing.
As a side note, Dungeon Travelers 2 was and still is a very highly recommended one in the past. I haven't played it yet myself but other anons have put together reasons why they loved it and consistently recommended it before. I can pull one or a few of them up and shorten them down. The ones that are apt to be more of an issue to find are the ones where, whilst they did see an English physical print, were limited print only, and some have yet to make it to people with access to quality scanners. First one took quite a while for me to find back when I was looking, and the latter I still can't quite find one with the banner on the top as a proper gradation; most that crop up, even reverse searching, are either the Japanese cover or cropped from a photograph taken of the cover in the case (and thus subject to glare and distortion). Probably the same photograph too; fucking obnoxious when there's only a poor scan of something that becomes the main one anyone reposts (doesn't just apply to covers either).
But that's generally not a big problem for games with standard releases, and if simply searching for them on your choice of search engine doesn't yield results, the small selection of cover scans at The Cover Project might (note that as fullscans they will require cropping).
Just some food for thought.

I'm not necessarily saying that one isn't (I'll admit I'm not real experienced with dungeon crawlers myself), but it's something to bear in mind.
Design wise, I personally wouldn't have made the actual "WHICH GAMES" header the same weight as the actual overall image title, but that's just me. Try replacing those two with one of the samples from the last thread, where the icons were to the left of the image and the data horizontal underneath. Could pull some of the necessary space out from the height, and then you could see how the weight feels. But either way, it's apt to be feel a bit longer vertically since the screenshot does up more space than just the cover art does. If you can get more tabs for physical games made though, I think overall the digital section might feel less weighty overall, but that is admittedly circumstantial as to what people do submit for.
Also, while I'm at it, for the Nep ones, be accurate as to what the situation is with Vol 2 and 3. NISA as a company wasn't involved (rather a member of their staff was), so with Vol.2, it would probably be better to replace that last line with "Using Re;translation patch is advised due to IFI outsourcing to NISA's Nick Doerr for script editing." Gets the message across more accurately, if more verbosely, but I think it should fit. Likewise, for Volume 3, you can simply replace he mention of "NISA" with "Doerr", as you're already calling back to the Vol.2 tab which explains it already. And that change should hopefully not be long enough to bump the content in the last line off. Point being though, you're less likely to get people calling into question the accuracy of the content, as NISA itself no longer had the rights to the series here by then. Just a thought.
Also make sure to add IFI as the western publisher on all three. Didn't know they got ex Flight-Plan guys working on those remakes.

>side icons
Might work if I split the data into genre/audio and dev/pub and put them side-by-side. For now if the icons are moved you just get a massive void, and don't save a lot of space anyway. That can wait though, especially since digital-only isn't likely to be that common in a curated list.
Also DT2's title definitely doesn't fit verbatim, but now I know & needs to be specified as \& whenever used.

I'll address those things too, though might have to abbreviate to IFI unless "Idea Factory Intl" fits.

That's enough for tonight. I got stumped with Sayonara Umihara Kawase, that probably belongs in digital like Bunny Must Die even though it technically got a physical release. Anyway this is how it looks with a reasonable tile count.
Also, for languages, which version of the game should it apply to? Localization if it exists would be my vote because nothing hurts more than being forced to crappy dubs. Alternatively it can be applied across the board and mentioned in the description.

I assume you've got easy control of max width? You might want to give it a few more columns in the long run. There is such a thing as max dimensions for posting on the site; think it caps in any direction at 10,000px. You might also adjust the padding between the entries down a tad. Let the background form a grid to separate each via the negative space, but without feeling overbearing. Also, while I think I get how you're doing the layout via an equal space to the side of each tab, it does have a slightly off effect in the effective border between the header, bottom, and sides of the entire image being smaller than the space between the tabs. Some things to consider: How is the actual thing layered (IE: does the light blue start from the bottom of the header, or does it actually start behind it and show through after the header space ends)? You seem to be able to have the tabs push outward an equidistant space; to you also have the ability to do the opposite (say, to the background) and constrain the contents inward? I'm not sure they apply directly to what you're doing, but to use some web terms, css allows one can have padding which pushes outward from an html element's dimensions, and margin, which pushes inward on contents laid over it.
If not able to do so, you might be able to fudge the effect by making the image slightly wider, and then adjusting where the starting point is to be horizontally and vertically over by the same amount as you have as padding between tabs. Just make sure you end the total width at the proper size so the image is still balanced.
>Also, for languages, which version of the game should it apply to?
Language how? You mean the audio, or the little "ENG" icon? Because the latter was made simply to signify that the game has an English option for text at the very least. I suppose it's more useful for games like the Moero ones where they never came west but were still import friendly as they were still English translated. I think though at the time those were originally made, Vita fan-translation patches weren't really a thing just yet. Could either try making a different icon if you can think of something more useful to fill the space, or just make it something you'd have to denote in the description for particular JP/Asia games, whether they're outright English inherent, or might have to be patched to be so.

It's bumped to 4 now, with the gaps 16px and that's 1664px wide, so ideally no further because I personally despise (and I doubt I'm the only one) charts or thread screencaps that force me to scroll horizontally, it's bad for the headers, and if it's scaled down the text gets tiny and/or muddied. I'm aiming to keep it at a bit under 1920px wide due to stuff like scrollbars, or opening it in-line with a thread, and most people having at least 1080p screens. I'll continue the additions in a bit.

The header images were done in about a minute just to have something to work with. I will tidy up the text spacing later. As for the image margin being half the width of the gaps between the tiles that's a side-effect of how montage does tiling, but it can be addressed easily.
>Language how?
I mean the voice languages. Do we list what exists for all regions, or just localizations if applicable? Probably the former since indicating dub-only localizations in the description is probably better. Also the ENG icon is supposedly a subjective one that says "will I be able to play this without knowing moon?" Like you can play simple puzzle games that are in Japanese, but not VNs.

Disgaea 3's only real flaws are in its writing, some of its mechanics and the fact that 4 is a superior game in every way imaginable, from visual polish to mechanical depth and extent of content. For what it's worth, 4 is far more deserving of being in that list than the Neptunia games or Mary Skelter.

If you want some games I can personally vouch for (despite the fact this is my first post in this thread), at least limiting myself to games that got english releases, then I'd definitely add Stranger of Sword City Revisited (by far not only the best game Experience has made as a company, but one of the top three DRPGs on the system in my opinion alongside DT2-2 and Coven), Soul Sacrifice Delta and Shiren 5+. If VNs also count, then I'd throw in both Utawarerumono games and Chaos;Child in there as well.
As for a digital extra, I completely recommend Magical Beat. No idea about the NA version, but the JP version with all the DLC and the latest patch (which includes features like an endless mode) is one my favorite puzzle games of all time.

2d7d80 No.15773849
>>15773766
I mentioned the Revisited version since it fixes a lot of balance issues and adds some worthwhile extra content. It's not a game for everyone, so I don't doubt the majority opinion tends to lean more towards mediocrity, but in simple terms I like how it's a shameless Wizardry ripoff that, unlike the majority of its kin, manages to capture part of the spirit of what made the first two Wizardry games special in a way.
For a Japanese DRPG it has a focus on the actual fantasy of roleplaying that you really don't see in the genre. It's still far from perfect, but it tries its hardest to build a cohesive world through both main and sidequests (or well, at least some) before cutely throwing you into a choice between three different factions with the point of no return being in around two thirds of the game. The dungeon design is surprisingly strong, especially when compared to other games from the developer like Demon Gaze, and the systems and limitations you have to juggle through in order to smoothly progress through the game, from the revival mechanics/permadeath to the tight economy and resource management that actually feels meaningful during each adventure, topped by the surprisingly complex and free-form character building mechanics, make for an overall package that's just rewarding to play in its own right. Then again I might be exaggerating in some regards, but at its best it's the kind of game where you feel every decision you take feels like it has both short and long term repercussions on the rest of your playthrough, and to be honest there's no other DRPG on the system that gives you that kind of feeling.
I wouldn't say it's perfect and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone without the rigid boner for archaic dungeon crawlers I have, at least without a few warnings beforehand, but if you're at least a bit interested in the game I'd say it's worth a try.

massive EDF slut here
>EDF2 Portable, called V2 in Japan due of being the second portable re-release after the PSP, the Vita vastly improving on the framerates (just slugging a lot when there is shitload of spiders shooting their webs at once or when the flamethrower hits multiple targets).
>add an exclusive class for the Vita version, the Air Raider, which has three weapon slots but cannot call for vehicles unlike in 4.1
>a total of 78 missions divided into 6 difficulties (Easy, Normal, Hard, Hardest, Inferno and the locked Impossible)
>online is pretty much dead except on the japanese side with a bit of activity there, due of being considered as a classic (although you cant play with japs due of their own 1.01 patch)
Another thing with the localization I've noticed is that XSeed thought it was a good idea to change the completion percentage (in the JP version) into a different digit that seems to follow the number of weapons my Air Raider has.
>EDF3 Portable (called 2017 Portable in the West)
>prequel of the events in EDF4.1, but both takes place in a different setting than EDF1/2
>portable port of the Xbox360 game
>adds the Pale Wing class exclusive to the Vita port, with new weapons
>a total of 60 missions also divided into several difficulties
>game chugs in framerates more than EDF2 Portable but it' still playable
>japanese physical cartridge has a in-built save slot
I say that difficulty-wise, EDF2 is harder than EDF3 due of the larger amount of enemies types present in EDF2 (Deroys, Bombers and its Mega variant, Centipedes, shield drones, giant nests) although in EDF3 there is no Air Raiders and giant nuclear missiles to assist you either.

They mean the story and characters. In terms of gameplay, each game iterates upon the last. So from a gameplay perspective D1 is the worst and D3 and D4 trump over it. It is also worth mentioning that D3 and D4 are more polishied and have more content on the Vita than their PS3 releases (also won't set your console on fire).

While I'm at it, capture is something I'd like to properly document. This is what I currently use. It's Linux-specific but there's equivalents to V4L2 and Pulse for other platforms. You can also use OBS instead.
$ ffmpeg -thread_queue_size 5120 -f v4l2 -framerate 60 -video_size 960x544 -i <device> -thread_queue_size 5120 -f pulse -i <pulsesource> -c:v huffyuv -c:a copy -f matroska -r 60 -y rec-`date +'%s'`.mkv
The thread_queue_size thing prevents the video stutter issue. Also it's lossless so it results in huge intermediate files, but my system is pretty weak so real-time encoding is out of the question. I typically cut the file next, and then the encode step is fairly simple at this stage.
$ ffmpeg -i cut.mkv -ss 00:00:01.017 -to 00:00:20.183 -c:v libvpx-vp9 -crf 45 -b:v 0 -c:a libopus -f webm -pass 1 video.webm
Then again with pass 2.

For all that trouble it didn't even give me the elf girl. For whatever reason her dakka annihilates slimes too, even though most bullet weapons are pretty useless. Middle difficulty as in hard mode, unless you meant hard, but that comboing behavious is retarded even if there's some attack cue I'm missing. Gah, forgot to spoiler.
Finished Utawarerumono Mask of Deception. This game took forever to get going and then ended with a massive cliffhanger. I would have been pretty angry had I paid money for it.
It ends right when it finally starts getting really interesting.*Haku taking on Oshtor's role is something I've been expecting but not in the way it happened. Nekone being directly responsible for Oshtor's death was something rather unexpected as well, hopefully the next game does not just gloss over that. And that last bit with Kuon - that ending is what I expected out of Utawarerumono, not endless slice of life. The entire game feels like a setup for the final game which is not bad of itself, just annoying. At least they do have a correct setup now to make this feel like a proper sequel about another guy basically revolutionizing a feudal country using modern day knowledge and techniques. Maybe this time with more focus on governance and politics? At least that's where I feel it is headed. Or maybe I'm having too high expectations of a game made in this decade. I certainly loved that aspect about the original game though.
I also thought the story battles were way too easy although I realize now I made a mistake by starting the game on normal mode and not on hard. The dream arena battles (post game) seem more challenging at least and make this feel a bit more like a complete game.
Going to move on to the third game once I'm done with the dream arena battles and probably play on hard mode from the start.

That one stage where you get the regular elf girl with the bow was unplayably laggy and took what felt like an eternity. Not impressed with the staff weapons so far. Primary weapon types are shotgun, and not-lightsaber because I figured out they have a chargeable sword beam, and that there's character upgrades to make their combo longer Apparently L blocks but I've not explored that much. Also like the dual-blades that the dark elf uses, I thought she was going to be magic-based but I'm down with this. Both are somewhat clumsy and the camera speed is a problem, but they're the fastest way to kill things, I only use shotgun if it's dangerous.

I've had a thing up for a while but it was just the Re;translations and still is currently. It'll be updated in a bit. Expect the file stuff to be gradual.
>>15791808
I can try but for some of those the "mod" is basically the entire game's data file with a few things altered, as with Estival Versus which is a 1 gigabyte download just to see some mediocre tits. That'll also open up the issue of copyright takedowns, though I intend to do obfuscation stuff like the share threads do, and I'll probably cross-post it there actually when it's up.
In the case of Estival Versus and Akiba's Trip U&U, I'll look into distributing them as an Xdelta patch instead if their data files aren't entirely different, but otherwise I'm just linking to the relevant thread. I'll keep an original local copy just in case it needs reuploading regardless.
Also the list helps a bit but some of those are out-of-date versions.

It's taking shape. However this is odd. I definitely had the BGP DLC stuff working but now that mod doesn't seem to unlock it since I cleared the rePatch/reAddccont for those two to update the game as well as resetting the save. Maybe rePatch is playing up.
Oh and I'll add the one to unlock the 3 DLC items in Gal*Gun. It surprisingly works for European copies of the game too.

>>15792054
Probably has to do with how they're stored or called. I'm going to guess there's separate images for the thumbnails, rather than there being some code to generate them from the fullsize (since I'd assume that if that were the case, replacing the fullsize would also replace the thumbnail)
04701a No.15792258
Just confirmed whoever made the Akiba's Trip 2 nude mod is a twit. If you make an Xdelta3 patch of the volume.dat file it's dramatically smaller because the data files are basically identical except for one small thing. 300kb patch vs. 500MB RAR, it's crystal clear how I'm mirroring it, and I bet this'll apply to Estival Versus as well.
Now, I need a favour. If someone has a USA copy of Akiba's Trip 2, could they verify the encrypted version of PCSE00428/RomImage_PSP2_US/volume.dat has the following SHA1 hash? You can compute them in VitaShell by triangle -> More -> Calculate SHA1, I just need to know they're identical or I'll have to generate two separate patches. Obviously you will need to patch against a decrypted copy, but I'll document that and how to run Xdelta at the top too.

Of course it's the same fucking story with Estival Versus (only about 300KB) but complicated by there being multiple files. However Reddit can't even make the user-friendly argument since it's definitely possible to do a basic mod installer out of a batch file and a few CLI tools, the only downside will be that the whole game gets decrypted to PC temporarily to use it. That part can wait though.
Anyway I'm throwing a couple more mods in there and pissing off to actually enjoy some lewd titty games.

In regards to mask of deception not much of anything other than having a level 50 character to save import to mask of truth gives a couple bonuses if i recall it doesn't save levels though.
I was referring to game companies that release RPGs padded to hell with pointless grinding, fetch quests, etc so they can push the

As it is Mask of Deception was probably around 30-40 hours of slow reading interspersed with some tactics battles. there are even catalogs for this retarded type of idea, https://howlongtobeat.com/game.php?id=43227
That isn't a horrible return rate for some people because they use some sort of retarded equation to determine "value" against cost Mask of Deception comes in at $2.00-$1.50 per "hour of game" assuming a 60$ price tag but I don't remember the release price that heavily weighs time rather than meaty gameplay, an interesting plot, or anything else of substance that makes a game good.
Those are also the sort of people that weigh the "value" of a game vs a movie ticket so they're also just completely fucking retarded.

I never managed to get anyone to level 50, realized too late that you don't get EXP when redoing a map. Don't know what kind of bonus that would have given me but I could keep all my items with my current save import. Many of the stronger items were from dream battles so it was worth it, probably.
>Mask of Deception was probably around 30-40 hours of slow reading interspersed with some tactics battles
Yeah, somewhere around that. I finished story at around the 40 hour mark. Have not checked how long the dream arena took me, probably just a few hours.
>RPGs padded to hell with pointless grinding, fetch quests
I see. Yes, this is certainly not a rare thing. Artificially padding out your RPG is fucking retarded, we can agree there.
>they use some sort of retarded equation to determine "value" against cost
That is indeed a retarded way to measure value. For me it's all about the story and characters. The original Utawarerumono has been a favorite of mine since forever ago, this being the direct sequel, I can't helb but compare it to that and hold it up to the same standards. In my opinion, for the most part it fails, but I am willing to forgive it that, provided the final game delivers. So far it's off to a good star. Anyway, I determine the "value" on a game-to-game basis, which depends on what I'm looking to get out of the game vs. what it is offering me.

>realized too late that you don't get EXP when redoing a map

>Don't know what kind of bonus that would have given me but I could keep all my items with my current save import.
I had to look it up and it says the save transfer gives you the following
>One of every scroll and codex you've obtained
>If at least one character has reached the max level, you get a codex that doubles XP earned
>If at least one character has maxed out all of their stats via BP, you get a codex that doubles BP earned
The max BP on a character is probably the biggest "grind" there but the bonuses for grinding appear to just be less grinding later. I don't know if there are any associated achievements for maxing anybody but there probably are, if you're into that.
>I determine the "value" on a game-to-game basis, which depends on what I'm looking to get out of the game vs. what it is offering me.
I can't remember when it started becoming mainstream but the first "major" games I saw showing off their fetch quest times were Western RPGs starting with Skyrim and, I believe Dragon Age 2. Oddly enough both games were shit and full of fetch quests. among other, significant issues with quality
I understand that game quality is frequently subjective but the people who are literally using cost/time=value are causing this bullshit and creating favor simulators.

>tried to go straight horror difficulty which makes bosses a bit rough
I honestly think Mary Skelter is one of few recent games that actually attempted to balance their difficulty levels above normal other than just "everything is stats x2" and, even more importantly, they did it so well that it makes sense within the universe to play on the highest difficulty to allow the wandering nightmares to actually be a rare terrifying encounter when they stalk and catch you in the field.
The only major thing I disliked was that there was no real way to figure out if you needed to make particular floors grow any further other than looking it up without some form of grinding, be it monsters, emotion points, or just "being quiet".
and you could fail to get the "true ending" with that choice very early in the game but the correct choice was rather obvious because the old man literally had MASSIVE LYING FAGGOT written on his forehead

I can't say I agree with this. Past the 2nd or 3rd chapter the games difficulty evaporates. There is also the issue of the nightmares being limited to a few areas and never appearing at all until you get specific events which almost always happen shortly before the actual boss fight with it.

5-3 was tedious in the extreme, being nothing but mowing down slimes plus a few golems, and finding that they have a ridiculous weak spot on their back. The front one I've not hit once and looks to be for show. At least that stage unlocked reverse interrogations though, and they're definitely a step up from 2, but at the same time, I'm underwhelmed by them because they don't expose much variety between the girls compared to the standard ones. Also was amused at how double ones were introduced because two of the main girls were retards and ended up suffering "friendly fire" for that.
Less happy by dual-swords now since the single ones seem a lot more reliable at striking enemies in their weak spot. Staves actually seem pretty strong in some forms now, and the detail of how the girl turns them into a broomstick instead of their regular dash is cute. All the fantasy weapons depending on character upgrades sucks, especially since guns seem to be the best idea in general, and well, this is Bullet Girls. Rockets are still pretty useless except for clothing destruction and scattering enemies. Also just hit me, but this game doesn't have the fish gun anymore! 0/10 I liked using that thing in 2.

This is one example of that using yuv444p which stuffed me before, and mine is described yuv422p(tv). Might need to specify -pix_fmt as well if it's a common problem but Chromium supports both.

I'm pretty bad at video games and I don't do much thinking or party planning so I tend to get stuck with weird shit that makes the game needlessly difficult. which is odd because I like the genre even though I suck
With a setup that had very little cohesion I thought it was decently difficult and fun for a while, though most of the things I died from later in the game wasn't due to difficulty rather than stupidity.
>There is also the issue of the nightmares being limited to a few areas and never appearing at all until you get specific events
I agree with that. I'd have liked some pool of generic "lesser nightmares" or something that functioned similarly for before or after you killed the main nightmare in an area.
It would have made exploration afterwards far more interesting than spamming autobattle because everything is so far beneath you.

Actually I want to expand on this because it's a common enough problem with games I've played, and I've made similar complaints about Neptunia. I am a casual, but I'll at least try to play them well if I think they're deserving of it. This isn't a particularly good game though.
With the grading system specifically as it applies to stages, having Phantasia difficulty unlock after beating a stage on Hard is a mistake because it's not clear what the intended difficulty curve is for actually getting SSS (same with extra stages which seem to have specific criteria to unlock), and that's because the girls get upgrades, which also means that the actual skill to acquire SSS ranks gets lower over time, WAY lower. Bullet Girls 2 had the same issue, but without a level up system and because Hard is open from the start, you can just force yourself to get SSS ranks before tackling the next stage, again, if they're intended to be possible. With how bullet-spongey some enemies are I'm not actually sure of that.
For the interrogation specifically, there is a disconnect between getting SSS and reducing them to a lusty drooling mess (max good/bad). Perhaps they should've made the combo system slowly make you more damaging or something if they think it's important, a number means nothing when I've seen THAT happen through my play. This also has the issue of tools dramatically increasing in power, so even if you CAN get a technical SSS with the starting ones, are they enough to max out both bars?
Also meant Yurina my bad. She's cute.

I did. The girl detail and voicing is one of the things the games nail. If it did nothing right I wouldn't be playing it. Despite my bitching, the game is playable, and probably the peak of what can be gotten away with on console too so I'm even more inclined to like it with Sony as they are now.

PCSX-ReArmed on retroarch has that infinite loading bug if you ever temporarily suspend the emulation (by putting the Vita on sleep, etc) and it doesnt swap discs well unlike POPS.
There is also the possibility of converting isos into eboots but I prefer to use that as a last resort thing, only for games that werent re-released on the PSN such as "obscure" shit (Heart of Darkness, Syndrome serie, Mizzurna Falls, etc) and old licensed anime/cartoon games (Bugs Bunny, Digimon, Lupin the 3rd, etc) . Fuck 9-1. If there's any stage that shows off what can go wrong with the game it's this one.
>endless hordes of monsters
>then a couple of tanks + monsters
>then a gunship + monsters
Couple that with a trio of dragons constantly trying to divebomb you through all that, the relentlessness of the attackers, and that the game is running in slow motion until there's only a few enemies, and you've got one of the most annoying and tedious stages I've played in any game. And that's just the first half of it. Second half is similarly awful, I almost dropped it to Normal difficulty.
The one good thing about the Devyants is the weak point is easy to hit and die in a single shotgun blast, most enemies aren't so forgiving. Annoyingly some of them get bullet weapons which if you do get hit you generally get stunlocked and usually their aim is "where you were a couple seconds ago" except for the times they randomly decided to aim wherever and fuck you up. Hitscans were just as annoying in BG2 but at least that game had actual cover mechanics. This doesn't and enemies can also shoot through walls sometimes.
The tanks can stuff you in bad situations but otherwise just empty a shotgun into them and they're destroyed (weapon balance). Gunships are by far the worst enemy but I finally found a use for missiles, specifically the homing missile launcher. Three hits and they're down. The rapid missile launcher is useless at anti-material and trying to hit them with the regular one would be tricky. One of the machine guns can technically kill them too, if you don't mind aiming through your girl's ass 90% of the time. It's slower anyway.

From what I've heard, pirated DLC is incompatible with legitimate copies of Vita games.

How does that work?
Aren't the copies you download directly from Sony's servers through piracy legitimate? And doesn't the DLC work with those?

The Vita version of D4 comes with all DLC added to the game by default. That's why I touched on the subject in the first place.
There's few enemies and a bunch of superbosses and challenges you do separated by tiers in level, and the DLC mostly includes new events and new characters with unique skills/classes (and restructures the overall pacing of the post-game so you have more things to chase, making the overall process far nicer) . The heart of the game works more as a grinding simulator where you build your perfect army, and each tier of those said challenges I mentioned before are basically stat/gear checks and carrots at the end of the stick for you to chase. Get godly gear, upgrade said gear even further through a bunch of mechanics that'll become clear once you play the game, optimize your unit builds and break the game in your own way since what you're going up against is equally as broken. From a mechanical standpoint, the main campaign is set up as a tutorial of all the core mechanics you'll see expanded later on in the post-game.
You don't need to grind to beat the story stages, and it's there just to add replay value, but you can legitimately waste close to 1000 hours even while applying optimized grinding strategies (which I'm not a fan of, far better to just jump into the randomized stages and level your characters naturally, slightly slower as a method but far more engaging) before you're truly done with the game and beat the true post-game final boss. It's a fun timesink.

AnS's writing is admittedly silly, but I'd say it's still worth playing to the end. It's just a shame Ciel's fan translation won't come out in years.
Instead of Miku, you should try IA/VT Colorful. It does some things better than Miku, at least in my opinion. And I can recommend Chaos;Child, at least if you like other games in the franchise it belongs to, it has its ups and downs but as an overall package it's pretty engrossing.

The games always gradually improve their mechanics. For example, Disgaea 1 has only 1 weapon for monsters that increases INT, despite 3 or 4 being magic-based monsters.
D5 did stuff like let you throw freely, instead of relying on that trick to throw in anything but a straight line. And they also made it so guns can shoot in more than a straight line, better spread of the weapons monsters can magichange into (D4 has a lot of sword monsters), and the character world is a lot faster and more reliable than just being a clone of the Item world. The Revenge + shard system is also cool.
I just didn't like the look of some of the new classes. They felt out of place compared to monsters in Disgaea 2 - 4. Plus some staple monsters were cut. I also didn't like the main characters much. It's dumb little things like how their special attacks have a lot less punch and pizazz compared to D4's main cast. The political and even philosophical tones in D4 also feel better than the pseudo sci-fi style of D5.
All of the above is just personal preference of course. All the games have pros and cons (and even more cons thanks to NISA), and how big a deal they are can come down to your own tastes.
Desco is best daughterfu.

I also prefer IA songs overall compared to Miku & cie in Project Diva, and IA/VT has the biggest amount of songs available by default (50 songs in total + 15-20 DLC songs) which made the physical quite worth the money back then. Its real flaw however is that you could complete the songs even by doing absolutely nothing except in the challenge mode.
Taiko no Tatsujin V is an absolute must too although that one has a lot of separate DLCs. Idolmaster Must Songs are two Taiko spin-offs which contain no DLCs on the other hand, Ao-ban is for anime songs and Akai-ban is for game songs.

So I got one of these. It's the JEC one for the 1000. I have to say, it is very comfortable, I don't think my hands are ever going to cramp up again while playing on this thing.
The grip itself seems rather flimsy, once you put it on, it feels very solid though. The little tabs that hold it in place aren't something you would want to mess around with too often, so once you put it on, you better leave it on. The hinges on top do get in the way of the power and volume up buttons a bit. If you have
very fat fingers, pressing the PS/start/select buttons might become a problem.
The triggers themselves feel a bit mushy (think DS3 but more resistance and less play) but seem to register presses without issues from my limited testing so far. The exposed part of the back touch pad does not register R2/L2 presses so you don't have to worry about it anymore. That said, I have not tried anything that requires R3/L3 yet, so I can't comment on whether you might accidentally press those. That said, you won't brush the back touch pad by accident as easily with this grip since you got those two horns on the back to hold on to.
It weights around 300 grams and makes the Vita rather bulky which might be a detriment to some but works just fine for me. All in all I'm happy with the purchase and hope this thing will actually last for a while. I got it mainly so I can play without getting hand cramps anymore and it does that job fine, the L2/R2 is a nice addition for moonlight and PS1 games which I'm going to be trying out in the coming days.

Consider the latter to be the default method, its sole real drawback is that TheFlow didnt implement on Adrenaline the 'POPS version swap' which was present on the PSP CFW in order to have some custom eboots work properly (the official eboots all launch without issues by default)

For actually modifying the game, I don't actually know much about it unless it's something designed for it like Doom. You may be able to find information on places like gbatemp, but sadly a fair few of the modded Vita games go to Reddit. Vaguely possible the /v/ Neptunia general might have some insight given /nep/ was responsible for the Re;translation stuff.
Additionally, do note that some of the affected games may be already censored on console, in those cases I wouldn't bother unless you can somehow bring everything missing in. Use the PC version. Also I'm not sure whether 3.69 will be enforced by games, if it is, there will be a delay before they can even be played on a jailbroken system.
Oh, and finally, if it's a situation like Akiba's Trip or Dungeon Travelers 2 please for the love of god distribute delta patches. Not the entirety of the game's data files with a few tweaks.

Fuck I just ran into a problem. Just tried powering on my main 3G system and I can't actually remember the exact details of what went wrong initially but the upshot was that my PSVSD SD card wasn't existing, and currently whenever I try using either usbmc.skprx or gamesd.skprx it just gets stuck in an infinite boot loop (also VERY aggravating to power off when it happens)
I've tried reseating the PSVSD and SD2Vita multiple times with no luck. SD card itself views fine on my computer and doesn't display any errors of dirty unmounting with dmesg. From just bare Ensō with my official memory card I can open up VitaShell but if I try to mount either SD2Vita or the PSVSD it just tells me to "insert micro SD card". The game cartridge slot works for official games at least so that should be unrelated.
I'm about to test the SD2Vita in a different system just in case, just waiting for it to charge. On the upside I found my old 64GB official card. It was in the one beat up system I updated to 3.67. Which from memory was to download from PSN prior to ReNpDrm. I'm currently thinking both my SD2Vita and PSVSD are broken, so might have to order a replacement.
Last oddity I noticed is after taking the thing apart, even though it was powered off the LED on the PSVSD was on.

Oh god disregard all of that noise, I just on a whim tried one more time with a bare config file with just the usbmc.skprx plugin and it's suddenly working again. So I couldn't say what went wrong if VitaShell wasn't showing it unless it depends on the plugin being loaded. I'll probably just do a purge and copy over all of the required plugins just in case that was the cause.
Game-related, the jump between difficulties in Project Diva is pretty startling. From Hard to Extreme it's like the note count doubles but they also make the buttons to press vary a lot more, and some parts need you to alternate onto the D-pad. Somehow at least completed first attempt of this but didn't pass. So many things to focus on while Miku is being cute in the background.

That would be my biggest worry with a pre-hacked console. The person doing it for cash may likely take the easy way out and use shit like autoplugin, and any help he may end up needing in the future is going to be a clusterfuck.

Slowly progressing through Project Diva F, and oddly stumbling mostly on the slower songs because they do odd beat patterns or ones I find it hard feeling the rhythm for. Adjusted to the touch screen stuff though, it isn't quite as bad as I thought but still stupid when the face buttons provide plenty to focus on

They might also use old methods. The thread in general cares about current information and for their systems.
>Autoplugin
That is never going to be recommended. It's not something you need to use often. Some plugins have essential documentation to use. It provides really dangerous plugins like the one that risks a PSN ban for fucking trophies. It doesn't allow flexible game plugin handling you need to understand the config format for that. It encourages careless addition of plugins and hides the essential inner workings.

Amazon will generally advertise their own prices first to give themselves priority, and sometimes they won't even directly show you third party vendor prices (which for anything preowned is apt to be cheaper). For example, a few days back they sent an email trying to encourage me to get RAD from them at a listed price of $250, when I know for a fact it's about $75 these days. Which is still rather expensive, but at least not over three times the going value like Amazon themselves want.

And not just any byte, the key is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. Sony tends to do well with its security design when it comes to exploit mitigation, trust zones, and other things - unlike Nintendo, but they always fail in one part in particular: crypto.
>PSP: Code signing? What's that?
>PS3: ECDSA key reuse fail
>PSClassic: Leaving the private key in the device
>PSV: Good security design in general, longest "survival" so far, but the master F00D key is what you normally end up putting in a highscores list when you mash the confirm button
In any case, things are only going to get better for Vita-tan. Thanks Sony for delivering a solid system but with so little support that the fans and hackers had to keep it floating…

Anyways, I would attribute it to some other factor than them not wanting to support the Vita. With what they're doing, they would be the last major publisher to put out physical releases on the Vita (3 titles at once no less). I would assume something else factored into their decision, like if a game wasn't deemed financially feasible for localization a la Marvelous with Uppers! flopping in Japan and whatnot (And even now they're porting and localizing for the PS4 and PC but not the Vita)
