There is a significant portion of people who exclusively buy digital for some retarded reason. They also don't seem to care about the concept of "the moment they shut down the servers, you won't own any of these games", not because they don't believe it, but because they're on a perpetual cycle of newness. There are a significant number of people who legitimately consider several games from this generation as their favorites of all time, and they're not necessarily the types who started "gayming" in 2007 either. I know someone in particular, an xboxfag who grew up with an N64 and then a Gamecube, who absolutely loved Red Dead Redemption, but could never play Revolver because it was "too old", and now after playing 2, he said he could never go back to playing 1. For people like that, this is probably a brilliant fucking idea. The price is the big issue, though. It says "sub-200", which isn't very specific. Unless it's 150 bucks, it's not that much of a better deal, since Kikeboxes are around $200-$220 right now in bundles.

Probably testing the waters for a digital only release for next gen. Honestly, I wouldn't mind if there was 2 consoles that is for disc with online or an online download only version. There are probably certain people who only really download only games they'll play and delete them to play the next game. The problem is the infrastructure in place to accommodate it.

We have wireless controllers but most people stick to wired controllers because it can easily descync or not register the inputs right. You can probably already guess the problems for an online only console. Foregoing that they don't do the streaming as well as online only, they could apply online-only drm or limited functionality if you wanted to disconnect from internet for a while. Juggling storage space for old or new games you've played to your registered account. developers only making online only games. Microsoft could probably take the risk since they've had low expectations for most of this generation so it could be a moderate or huge success for them, determining on how they pitch this.
