Apparently, Chris Avellone is going to be a "narrative designer" or some shit for the sequel. I know he hasn't done anything of worth since New Vegas, but damn it I want to believe it might be worth playing. Please help me get over this irrational feeling of hope, as it is self apparent that it is better to have never loved at all than to have loved and lost.

Dying Light's story is utter shit, just remember that the DLC has your player character Nuke a part of Turkey to cleanse the infection or escape and infect the World. Dying Light 2 is gonna be a mini-reboot.

I enjoyed the freerunning and some aspects of the combat, but it's no form of GOTY.

I couldn't get Chris Redfield vs Wesker out of my head during the main story (when the bad guy gets his hand cut off) which gave me a few laughs but really the story isn't all too special.

You should know by now though to never get excited about anything. I don't like being the wet blanket but getting your hopes high is an opportunity to be let down. Save that for people you care about, not for this shit decaying industry. This game in particular doesn't shine brightly, and sequels these days usually shit themselves instead of improve.
