Is there anyone on /v/ with enough brain power to play puzzle games? I am not talking about "knowing the name of a title or two" I am talking about playing that shit and becoming a puzzle meister.

personally I tell myself that I love puzzle games, and I take pride in that because some of these games I get to finish lis TIS-100 are only completed by like 5% of the buyers according to steam. but I was wondering if someone else knew this feeling you get during a game, where you kind a groan internally when you see this game has another stage.

I thought about it, but I will disagree only because you can't make new units. sure wikipedia will disagree with me, but fuck it is how I see it.

you start with a precise number of units and you need to solve a way to the objective. if you could make units like on Advanced wars or Civ, or Age of Empires, or Dune, or Rise of nations than ok, it would be strategy like these games. but the focus on the games doesn't seem to be that.

Frozen Synapse isn't the first strategy game in which you can't make new units.

Depends on how you qualify "finishing" the game. If you include the TIS-NET bonus campaign the dropoff is way worse.

I try to complete puzzle games (and any game) as best I can, but I'll confess I'm not always successful, and I couldn't really identify a pattern besides judging my own dedication against the game's difficulty. I 100%ed The Witness even though I didn't like it, and I haven't 100%ed The Talos Principle even though I really liked it. As far as Zach goes there are a few outstanding puzzles I've been saving for a rainy day, like the 63Corvi Mission and a few of the endgame puzzles for Shenzhen and Exapunks.

Phage puzzles were hard to figure out how to do anything in them when I tried it. But once I figured that out I had very little trouble with anything in the game except maybe one or two endgame puzzles which I still solved within a few hours. This was on pirated release version, did they add new stuff yet?

Yeah, they released the bonus campaign and it's officially out of EA now. Still haven't finished the last four bonus puzzles myself. They've also been hosting bi-monthly hacker battles, you might be able to submit something even on a pirated copy.
