I don't understand how you can fuck it up so badly. It's extremely easy to write a decent draft for something like Monster Hunter. Act one introduce mentor and young protagonist and tragedy in home village. Act two protagonist has grown up into hunter, is distant from mentor, see his progress through hunts and interactions with guild. Act three protagonist has to return to home village to save it from another tragedy and reconnects with mentor who gives him the strength to win.

I never hated SF or Mario. It's a given when you're a kid because you don't give two shits about standards, but even recently, I can't dislike them. At least there it looked like they made an effort while still TRYING (but failing) at giving their own twist. Mario has the princess, Yoshi, the Bob-ombs but had kickass rocket shoes and a weird city, and the actress playing Peach was gorgeous, same as some of the other bimbos, hell, the fat nigress was a fine side character. SF tried to include all the characters and they did their familiar stuff and similar outfits, but focused too much on Guile and Hollywood-tier action, rather than getting some Chinese/Japanese fight choreographers for a faster, more exciting pace. In that regard, Mortal Kombat is a great adaptation because the framing and action is exciting.

Cue veteran hunter helping out the rookie and helping him become competent (Cue montage of various hunts). Veteran gets called away on a hunt soon after and is almost killed by the gore magala. Rookie goes to fight the Gore and manages to beat it in some climactic fight where the gore falls off a cliff and seemingly dies. Everyone is celebrating before word arrives that something is horribly wrong, and the frenzy virus passed on by gore is starting to spread even faster. The virus spreads from one place, and the rookie and the veteran, who is miraculously alive after his mission, are sent to investigate. Climactic fight against Shagaru Magala. Heroes win, rookie is welcomed back as a true hunter. Roll Credits.
>Movie 2
Set several years after the original movie, the rookie is now a competent hunter. The veteran in the last movie is just about to retire, but has one last hunt before he does, which is a simple and easy mission. Something goes wrong, and some rogue monster which was thought to no longer exist ends up killing him. Rest of the movie is the protagonist working fanatically to find and kill this monster. The monster can really be whatever (I think savage deviljho would probably be the best), but regardless, the battle is big and epic and there is some character development where the protagonist matures or some shit and goes from "skilled by cocky" to older and wiser.
>Movie 3
Basically G rank. Based on the hunter's exploits, the hunter is personally selected to be a part of the king's personal hunting squad. You have cute but badass hunter girl, who is friendly and welcoming of the new hunter. You have grizzled old veteran, who is stoic and calm, but is welcoming in his own way. Then finally you have dickhead hunter, who is related to royalty, and looks down on the protagonist and is overall cunt in general. Hunters go on various G rank missions hunting down gigantic monsters from MH4 and other games (I'm thinking like Ukanlos, Dalamadur, etc.). Team grows closer together, but while out on a hunt, the team is immediately recalled and its revealed most of the "kingdom" has been razed by a monster though extinct for a millenia- the white fatalis. Climactic battle ensues in the ruins of the city. When all hope seems lost, our hero pull it out somehow. Cue victory celebration- hero gets the qt, old grizzled hunter is apathetic but respectful, and cuntface is no longer a huge cuntface, at least not to the protagonist.
And then in the post-credits, the hunter is traveling along back to where he started, and witnesses a rookie fucking something up in the same way he did when he started. He smiles, and begins walking towards him before it cuts to black.

Monster fights. Just go from low ranks and then end with a beginner high rank. Like a Rathian or the Mud T-rex. The low rank boss would be a Jaggi. If the movie works out good then you just add mostly high rank and then a g rank. Slowly build up the monsters. You can use like 3-4 fights each movie. Its not hard lol.
Movie 1: Jaggis + ambush by great jaggi -> Kencha Wacha and some Congas -> Congalala takes revenge. -> Finish off with a Tetsucabra or Khezu.
Only thing that will sell the movie is the fights, and the scenary, story is good enough to follow.

There was going to be much more relics from the war. The Crypt Hydra was originally an attempt to make a monster with multiple heads, but naturally multiple heads are a bad thing in nature ,so it had bandages on it as a leftover abandoned horror weapon that was never used in the war and was found in an underground facility. Testers or something felt it was "too weird" and 'not natural" so the idea was scrapped for a long time, but eventually came back as he Narkarkos.
The strongest argument for just how insane the elder dragon war was is the Ahtal-Ka, a fucking bug that is so smart it makes it's own walking fortress and knows how to use human weapons against them. The Elder Dragon war was one hell of an arms race and it's no wonder both sides nearly wiped eachother out.

The lore autism is the reason half of the stuff in frontier exists and anyone who prefers the style of frontier over the first game needs to off themselves. Also I dare anyone to tell me the intro to f&h with all the aptonoth hanging by the river isn't suppposed to be a play on the brachiosaurus intro scene in Jurassic Park.
