Oh fuck I never thought about that. But I mean, the Orz we see are so far from what we know the Androsynths looked like, to the point where they float and have tentacles, so I imagine it's more likely we see either some sort of pet or servant to the Orz, or the actual Orz that've picked a form that TrueSpace natives can understand.

It's really just me going off the quote of something like "there are no Androsynth, only Orz now" that I think the Arilou say. If the Orz had said it themselves I wouldn't have thought anything of it, but since it was the Arilou, I think they are implying the Orz replace the Androsynth. I also think that would make sense as a foil to the Arilou convincing the other races like humans to join their family, as the Orz imply they fuse or something. (need to check the wiki)

But you're right from a lore standpoint. I just like the idea of an enemy that can be shut down by learning a code from a side mission and how your dialog options change as you constantly get assaulted by them. This game was filled with little details that made a huge impression.

The number of niggers in this thread who can't comprehend the orz. First, it's a singular extradimensional entity, like an elder god. The androsynth were studying extradimensional entities and I think trying to ascend to the level of the precursors. What their objective is isn't clear. That the orz get frumpled if you ask about them suggests that it was more than just the androsynth creating an opening, but were destroyed purposefully.
Pair this with the conversations with the arilou about them changing the scent of humans so they wouldn't be noticed and you get a clearer picture. The orz would destroy you had the arilou not protected humans because of some inborn human potential.

Most of the men (hell, most of all of them) got killed when their planet turned into a volcano for reasons later explained in SC2. From the Ultronomicon wiki:
>Apart from a few survivors on the planet, only the recently created Syreen Space Patrol, the vast majority of which were female, remained. During a period of a few years, they made preparations for an exodus, gathering survivors from the surface and outfitting the orbital facilities with makeshift, mostly sub-luminal drives, and created the Habitat fleet.
>Everything that remained of the Syreen civilization was less than ten thousand people, among which only five hundred were males, living aboard improvised Habitats and the Penetrators of the Space Patrol. Voyaging through HyperSpace at an incredibly slow pace, they began looking for a new world.

I found it weird how they ask if you'd like to "see their *toys*" (or something to that affect, and then immediately follow up with that. >Music was great, including the remixed tracks
>Personally never experienced any crashes, slowdowns, or freezes in a complete playthrough
>Ship customization was actually fairly good
>The dialogue was also pretty good
<But there wasn't enough of it
<Combat started off good but went downhill due to the absolutely horrible battle AI barely putting up a resistance at all
<Ships that aren't your flagship generally aren't worth ever actually using, since your flagship can keep a distance from almost any enemy and pepper them with long-range nukes
<Problem is made worse due to maps being large battle arenas as opposed to a smaller wrapping arena
<Lacks that early 90s sci-fi appeal from the original series
<Some conversations with lesser characters/races are just text boxes as opposed to full screen displays (biggest flaw of the game, no exceptions)
Honestly though, what confuses me is that Stardock wanted the Star Control license to make this game, whenever they've been building up Galactic Civilizations in a way that almost mirrors Star Control. They obviously always wanted to make this game. I don't know why they didn't.

There is no unbiased source. Your best bet for neutrality is to read the actual legal documents released by both sides. Read the demands made by both parties. There is no reason to take anyone's word at face value, since anyone trying to describe what is happening is putting their own spin on the factual legal documentation.
As for what actually happened behind the scenes before the whole legal battle occured, it's anybody's guess. Both sides would have copies of the e-mail communications. I would imagine they would be released by one party to prove that they were being cooperative all along, but the lack of said previous communications being aired implies the opposite. Or maybe they'd rather not release said communications until the legal battle is over.
