Let's have a general thread about classic mega man. I've been on a mega man high recently, and I completed The Wily Wars and MM4.

I'll start:
>Ranking of games
7>Powered up>2>4>3=8>>The Wily Wars>>>>shit>1>MM&B
I haven't replayed 5 and 6 and I haven't played 9, 10, or 11.
>Favorite character
Roll
>Favorite boss
The Super adapter bass fight from 7 or the final boss from powered up. I can't decide.
>Either favorite song and/or favorite Classic mega man soundtrack
I can't pick a favorite song, but 7 and 2 are tied for best mega man soundtrack for me. 9 is sounding pretty great though.
>What do you think is the best/most important aspect of a mega man game?
Patience and observation being the key to victory, along with quick thinking to some extent. Also the challenge itself.
>Where should the classic series go after 11?
I'd like to see them make two more sequels at most, and then move on back into the X series.
>What guide through the classic games would you give a newcomer?
Start with Powered up. It's a remake of the first with a comfortable experience for newbies with its easy mode. After that, play Rockman complete works 2-4 via Playstation store or emulation, and use a translation guide (both an FAQ and a story script. There used to be a translation rom, and the link was posted on the GameFAQs guide of the Complete works games, but the rom's gone for some reason). Either import or emulate 5 and 6. If you don't want to go through that much shit, playing the original NES games is perfectly fine for 2-6. For 7, I recommend emulation with the Refit and Restoration hacks, as they perfect an already wonderful game with translation fixes and slight tweaks. 8 is good on PlayStation, but better on Saturn for extra features (Emulate for Saturn if you can). After that, play 9, 10 ,and 11 however you want. Stay away from MM&B unless you want to get pissed off, and stay away from the legacy collections. The anniversary collection is only good for the two arcade games.
